Ok well i know a lot of other people are probably curious as well as me. About what springs and shocks from different years, avant/sedan, and engine sizes will fit on there rides.

Im currently looking for suspension for my 97 a4 2.8 and am finding tons of good deals on springs and/or shocks of different years and have no clue to weather they will fit or not, i think we need like a chart or something in the stickies to show what will work with what cars and whatnot. Anyone agree?

    Re: Dont you Agree??!!

in terms of fitment...alot will "fit"

other than that, why not just buy the ones that are made for your specific application?

    Re: Dont you Agree??!!

uhh i have been seeing a lot of springs and shocks that are made to fit like b6's and not b5's. And many sets of s4 shocks to. Also there are these kyb shocks on ebay that are for only 2000 and + so i just figured they wouldnt work and stopped thinking about them, but i mean maybe they will work i have no idea...

    Re: Dont you Agree??!!

stay away from s4 setups unless they are made to work with both cars (ie. stasis)

i think the 2000+ setup will work as long as the springs match the shocks...if that makes sense? you need both the struts and the springs from the same application, once that combo is made it should fit all B5s if im not mistaken.

    Re: Dont you Agree??!!

i was thinking some kyb shocks/struts, and then w/e lowering springs i could find, maybe eibach, h&r sport or race, something along the lines of those.

    no i dont agree

get springs and shocks designed for your 2.8 or for the B5 S4, since the front weight should be the same 1.8T ones ill not look right and B6 ones wont fit.

looks are really a byproduct, how the car performs with the "wrong" suspension would be my #1 concern.

He is looking at products that are in no way performance inspired so i dont think that is really what he is looking for

i didnt say he was building a track car...but the performance of the suspension would be my #1 concern...as in, how they perform on the road, track, etc. performance doesnt only mean fast, its means functional...as in, the right suspension for his car

I was disagreeing with the statement he was making initially not your advise, as in I dont think there needs to be a chart made since its pretty self explanatory which will work.
