how to: mod 1 piece torsen diff. with pictures.

me and my friend modded his b6's 1 piece center diff earlier this afternoon.

please note that the torsen in the 01e tranny is removed easier than the torsen on the 01a tranny. you only need to remove the back cover of the gearbox. all other steps are the same though. 01e diff is larger though too.

i figured i would let the pictures do the talking. post any questions.

you must knock the torsen out of the housing. hit the shiny part.

so its just the washers that change the "preload" or whatever its called in a torsen, and the new spiral pins are just because you have to mangle the old ones to get them out? IIRC at least.

There is not pre-load in the T-1 Torsen. All this does is create more internal friction w/in the differential, which, in turn, is what dictates the TBR of this differential. Do a search for "Torsen Whitepaper" and you'll have some good reading material.

Re: how to: mod 1 piece torsen diff. with pictures.

so how long does it take to switch diffs? I was thinking about getting a spare and using that for the winter when it snows and mod the one in my car for summer
"Clearly, a liger is not as practical as a Katana. S4s can't carry ligers. fucking 500lb cat in my backseat using my alcantara as a scratch post for its HUGE FUCKING CLAWS? I dont' think so bro"

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how far you take the wall with you.
