Awesome rock & crack to my NEW windshield!

Okay, so, for those of you that read my 'hobo threw a chunk of parking block at my windshield' thread a couple months back, I was driving on the 10 (I HATE THIS F'ING FREEWAY/ PARKING LOT) the other day and i hear this SNAP* i already know what it is and so i look and sure enough a nice nickle sized crack/ splotch right in the center of my BRAND NEW windshield. AWESOME! I swear, i know MUCH WORSE THINGS CAN HAPPEN TO ME but i was just thinking last week how nice it is to have a beautiful new windshield... sigh*.

You know whats crazy? I drove by that guy's shop and he shut it down :( everything was gone. I bet he was scared of retaliation and just closed up shop and HOPEFULLY moved on to a better locale. Poor guy, must suck runnin a liquor store and ALWAYS being scared you are going to get robbed or harassed. The hobo story will always be a classic though. such a crazy night.

Same here, I have a pretty large crack in mine, and its constantly bombarded with shit, I don't even really want to get it fixed. I don't know why people buy new cars is SE Texas, you can't keep them nice looking very long at all...

1pm after the car was in the sun all day and dirty as hell I decided to hose her off. As soon as the hose water hit the windshield, the crack cleared straight across THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD.

In other words, if you have a crack and you live in a hot area, BE CAREFUL. It ruined my day, can ruin yours too.

We had a rock or a bolt hit our van while on tour when we got back we called some dude we found on craigslist ;) and he came out and did some heat and metal thing to our crack and it looked almost fixed but he said it would never be a problem... 4 tours later it never did crack even a n inch and we went from the hottest of hot (FLA) to the bitter cold of sweet Canada. I need to find dudes number.... I wonder if there is a warranty for my windshield but im guessing it wont cover some freeway damage... why do these things keep happening? I did the right thing in the Hobo thread and i thought that would give me some karma points or something... BLAH! anyway, yeah, i need to get this thing looked at.

I had to get two new windshields within a week on my B5 A4 I had. A semi on the interstate dropped a piece of metal pipe and it busted out the windshield and dented the pillar in pretty good. Two days later the new windshield just cracks for some reason and the company that did the work cut the paint down to the metal on top of the car when they cut out the seal on the windshield. The manager was a dick, but I got $600 to repaint the roof of my car!

That's okay, on valentines day an overpass shit 100 quarter-sized rocks on my car. Filed a claim with caltrans to get money...they wouldn't take responsibility and referred me to contractor responsible, and they are saying that they are not held liable if whoever built the overpass did a crap job. On the good side, the insurance adjuster that is on their side likes me and said she is going to do everything in her power to try and get me some money but the situation doesn't look like it'll be in my favor. Just be happy that every panel on the left side of your car doesn't have a fat rock chip in it. OH and btw, I also have a crack in my windshield from that night too. Have a nice day =)

Yeah, Safelite is the company that cut the paint off the roof on my car when they were cutting the seal off the windshield.

My new cracked windshield mod is getting mad ups from german auto enthusiasts so thats rad... A dude in a rs4 asked where i had it done and i told him i would send him my diy... :( jokes aside cracks in the windshield seem to be common as all hell, i just wanna get it fixed BEFORE the thing spider webs on me which, with my luck/ karma as of late, will happen... I swear, i have been extra nice to people and everything ;). I hope everyone gets their windshields repaired on the double and i am sorry so many folks are having the same issue as i am :( boooo.

A lot of insurance companies will cover stuff like that (having it fixed) under glass care and not raise rates or require your deductible to be paid.

well on my way home from work last night i also heard this loud clunk and as it turns out i got my carbon fiber hood chipped real bad br a damn rock... the 1/4'' clear coat just shattered right by my grille and i was pretty angry...
