    Bought an 05 A4 , have questions

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am new to owning anything other than an american car. I just sold my supercharged GTO because I'm starting a family. I purchased an 05 A4 1.8T. I wanted to get everyones take on what to do to it.

I guess I wanted to find out what little things I can do myself....maybe you could hook me up with some links to some good audi performace parts websites. I was thinking about an exhaust and intake.

I was looking into http://www.atpturbo.com/ and was wondering if anyone has bought a turbo kit from them. If I go with them what supporting mods should I make.

And lastly, I was wondering what HP can I get my A4 to without having to worry about engine internals. And if I was going to go through the engine what should I change.

    Thanks for your help.

    read these two threads.
you can push to at least twice as much as stock crank HP without worrying the internals.
S/C GTO has a lot more than the 1.8t you know.

Welcome, www.ecstuning.com is a nice site. Just get used to the car and get to know the internal parts first and what you can do to them because American cars are very different from this. If you are looking for a turbo kit you're gonna need a Front mount intercooler, diverter valve, and new software for your ECU, but the software might come with the turbo package, I'm not sure.

Re: Bought an 05 A4 , have questions

go to eurocodetuning's site and check out their "complete solution" packages if you're looking for more of a kit. also, apr's 3+ is a good way to go for plug-n-play performance.

just keep in mind that your a4 may NEVER be as fast as the gto -- but if you got it for a family car it probably shouldn't be lol

and as far as strength of the internals go -- people have pushed in excess of 320awhp on these cars with stock internals and had no problems -- and people have run less powerful kits and blown their motors up.

it's all in the tuning, and with powerful-yet-smaller turbo kits (coughAWEcoughcough) you have to watch that torque spike, from what i understand our tiny little stock rods dont like that too much. if you're really worried a rod swap is super simple in our cars (you can leave the cams in the head and everything) and rods are fairly inexpensive for the peace of mind they can give. (i think like 350/set from IE)

welcome to the family, hope you enjoy your a4!
