    2000 1.8T GT28 Problem Please Help!

Hey, this isn't for me this is for a buddy of mine and hes having some serious issues starting his car. He's checked mostly everything so far, but all the car does is crank and not start. Its getting fuel, its getting spark, just not starting. He sent me a few pics which i will upload of some disconnected plugs and his setup but here are his codes that were read

P0238 its from the torbucharge boost sensor A circuit high
P0341 is from the camshaft position sensor A
    P0106 is manifold absoltue pressure/BARO sensor range/Performance

A timing belt job was done on this car, and i have concluded that it is either off by a notch or so, or it is the ECU which is tuned by Unitronic.

Sorry if the pics are crappy but thats all that we have to work with. With a GT28 install I don't think there should be wires that would be moved or taken out lol, everything is the same other than hardware basically. and there he circled in red of a location where it looks like something is missing that is suppose to be there. I haven't had the chance to see it first hand so i am seeing if any of you guys know

    Thanks Alot!!!

pictures are horrible - only thing that belongs in the red area is the ABS module - and why are the headlight or fog light cables circled

Hmm i recently installed a gt28 kit on my atw. Did he install an intercooler also? On the drivers side, have him check the coolant tank sensor, the map sensor on the intercooler or piping if he has an aftermarket kit. For the drivers side check the maf sensor , fog lights and secondary air pump. That should handle your connectors. Now for the car not starting, check to see if you have a vacuum leak. I blew off an intercooler hose and my car didnt start. I had to get my car towed home cause i thought i popped my motor. While my car was on the flatbed i saw the hose was off. Take the upper timing belt cover off, make sure your timing marks line up, you should be able to do this without pulling the front end off. I had a couple occasions where my car wouldnt start, pull the plugs make sure the gap is correct. Mine are gapped at .0245 or something like that, otherwise the car is going to missfire and when you start cranking up the boost its going to miss like crazy. Trust me on that lol. Also i had a bad valve cover gasket leaking getting oil in between the spark plugs and the coils. Hmm how does he or you know the car is getting spark and fuel?

fuel because he set he checked it and it was wet inside and spark because he checked the arc with a piece of metal im assuming but i will tell him all of those things once he gets on. I didn't know it wouldn't start just from a boost leak, good to know I thought it would just throw it into limp mode. And thanks for the tip on the timing belt, he was dreading on taking the whole front end apart... Thanks for the info!

    Timing is probably off then.

    Do the Pencil test

    Pull the cam cover back

Pull spark plug out of cylinder 1

place a long slim object in there liike a pencil and crank the engine.....

crank easily so you can see when the cam gear is @ TDC

When the cam is at TDC, the pencil should be at its highest point.

If not, the timing is off
