why is my a/c not cold?

ok well when i put it on the a/c mode and lowest temp even with it circulating. Even though the circulating button/signal doesnt ever want to stay on. My a/c just isnt cold at all. Like it doesnt want to get cold and i end up just rolling my windows down because it doesnt do shit..

So what do i need to do? Recharge my a/c? BTW i have a clean cabin air filter in if that helps at alll....

my a/c wouldnt get cold yesterday, i checked the temp outside on my cluster computer it said -40 degrees!!(it was really 90 degrees outside) so i turned off the a/c waited about 30mins watched the temp. rise back up and turned the a/c back on...cold air....i dont get why it did that, it has never done that before but it works great now!

check that, i know if the computer is telling the car it is freezing cold outside your a/c will blow accordingly....so when its hot it blows cold when its freezing cold it will blow warm....

I don't think our cars use freon anymore. I believe it is R134.

ILoveT is right and I think it might even be R134a. My a/c would get cool but not cold so since I'm doing an internship at an audi/porsche shop we put more R134a in and now it blows cold like it should. You probably just need to have it recharged. The humidity and weather can also effect how well the a/c works.

I would check the pressure with a gauge. You can buy R134A recharge kits that come with a gauge built in, it's rather helpful.

Mine was doing the same thing last summer, and it sucked down here in FL, but a quick recharge fixed it, and it blows ice cold after 5 mins of cruising.
