Need some opinions about 2001 A6

I am currently looking for a new car and i've come across a 2001 Audi A6. The private party seller is asking $9995. The car has 51K miles, exterior doesnt have anything wrong with it, and interior looks like new. The title is clean and no history of mechanical issues. I know that Audi had a couple rough years and i was wondering if someone could give me some advice. The years i heard the most about are '98 and '99. Are there common problems in the 2001?

Alot depends on the engine. Three engine options were available in 2001: 2.8, 2.7T(twin turbo) and 4.2 V8. Each will have it's own issues and maintenance requirements. Which engine does it have?

definitely a 2.8...I have a 2001 A6 Avant - it, along with all Avants from that year, has the 2.8 as well - I haven't run into any issues YET (knock on wood) besides it being kinda slow (don't believe the line about it being fast)

with low miles and no interior or exterior issues and no history of mechanical problems, this sounds like a pretty good deal - you might be able to talk him down a little since I don't see a BOSE stereo or heated seats

Thanks for your advice. I'm not looking for a fast car, just something that runs well and looks nice and classy. The good news about it not being fast, is the fact someone hasnt ran the hell out of the car.
