weird sound?

Hey i might be just really concirned... i dont like the sound. when i rev or like punch the gas in 2nd and then let the revs drop its gives a rattel sound when the revs are dropping. idk its not a pshhh sound its more like rattleing of chains or just like a rattle of metel... basicly it doesnt sound rite to me? if you could help me out that would be great, thanks ahead of time

Im having the same thing. I have a 2005 A4/B7 2.0T Tiptronic 75K miles.

Driving around town I've heard it mostly in first gear, but it does happen in other gears because I've heard it on the highway. Step on gas, car pulls fine, soon as I release the pedal, I hear a rattle or chain sound. Sounds like a loose exhaust and its quick for like 1 second. At first I thought exhaust leak, but now thinking turbo.

hmm..rattling like chains..can either one of you post up a video of this noise?

edit: check your to see if all your bolts on your heat sheild are there and tightened.

I already replaced the DV a few months back. When it was bad I was getting P0299.

I just had someone put it in drive while holding the brake and hit the gas so I can see where the sound was coming from. Its definetly at or around the turbo.

look for loose heat shields all around your exhaust

I have the same exact thing. But I am 99.9% sure that my is due to a sub-par installation of my APR exhaust. Taking it back to the shop later this week and they are going to take a look at it.

You both have stock exhausts?

Yeah Im all stock. I looked around today and didnt find any heat shields loose.

I think Ive narrowed it down to wastegate or vacuum diaphragm. Which would NOT throw a code?
