do some reading -- tube and fin isn't always worse.... bar and plate has worse heat soak, and if the t/f core is constructed well - it will have the same (if not less) pressure drop. it's ALLLL in design.
there's a reason that supras, evos, skylines, etc all come with t/f from the factory...
and technically speaking, there are new forms of water/air heat exchangers that work FAR better than any air/air setup out there... there's a company which develops parts for the Porsche 944T almost exclusively which has developed a near 0 restriction, 0 pressure drop, and EXTREMELY efficient form of intercooling by using specially constructed piping. i'll try and find the link/article on it.
it's a really interesting design, and i'm tempted to give it a try on the a4 and see if i can't shorten up/simplify my intake plumbing while retaining all of (if not gaining some more) performance.
and the evo IC might work better if you flip it upside down. if you're getting a killer deal on it i say you go for it, if you're going to end up paying what you would for a kit anyways -- just skip on the evo IC
