So like eveyone else I'm looking for a brake upgrade but don't need a BBK as I'm not going beyond my current stage 1+.
So I've figured that I have few options:
1. 3.0L carriers, existing calipers
2. B6S4 or B7A4
I'd rather go with option 2, preferably with B7A4.
I run stock 5-spoke 16's with I think 43mm offset (I know, gross) in the winter. This thread http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=198724 which describes upgrading to B7A4 brakes indicates in post #1 that the new brakes fit those same rims (with ~10mm clearance). By that rationale can I deduce that B6S4 brakes would also fit (since they use the same caliper)? I don't understand if the carrier plays a role in fitment or not...
If I go B7A4:
My summer rims are ASA AR2 18x8 with 35mm off-set. Since there is less positive offset than the stocks (which are known to fit) can I presume they will also fit with 2mm of clearance? (these rims would need an additional 8mm (43-35) of clearance over the stocks due to the offset difference and assuming the 10mm of clearance is accurate)
Is that rationale even correct? Not sure if I'm understanding offsets correctly...
If that is correct, is 2mm too tight and how big a spacer would be recommended?
Thanks!
