    Question Wheels/Tires Question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I picked up some wheels in a staggered setup (18x8.5 in the front, 18x9.5 in the back) and I'm wondering if those rear wheels will be too wide. Is anyone here running x9.5 that can put my mind at ease?

Also, what would be a good tire size for these? I'm not really a fan of that stretched look where the wheel is obviously wider than the tire. Just going for the more standard look.

I was thinking 225/40/18 in the front and 235/??/18 in the back (not sure what aspect ratio would make sense). Does that sound about right? Other ideas?

EDIT: Offset for both front and back is ET 35.

yeah they should fit fine depending on the offset. Test fit them as that can also change the tire size in case they need a slight stretch to clear control arms or the fender lip or maybe even roll the fender lip. There are members here runnin 10" wide in the rear without any rubbing so they should work in theory.

    Re: Wheels/Tires Question

I ran basically the same wheel sizes, but my tires had some stretch to them.

    18x8.5 ET. 35 - 215/40
    18x9.5 ET. 20 - 235/35

The rear poked a good amount with that offset.

    Hoped that helped out some.

    Question Re: Wheels/Tires Question

    Nice pics!

So if I'm looking at a 35mm offset on both the front and the back, do you think I will be ok clearing the suspension/control arms in the rear? Judging from your pics, it looks like I (hopefully) wouldn't have to roll the fenders to avoid rubbing, but I'm nervous about the other side of the wheel (I'd be basically shifting my rear wheels inward by 15mm compared to yours).

If your car is a Quattro, there is an issue with differing tire sizes and wear on your drive line and traction issues. My .02.
