    SAI housing??? Spare pump?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Car was throwing the P0411 code, i had the noise with the sai system. I finally took a look at it... where the hose connects the plastic on the housing is broken. The pump is perfectly fine

Does anyone have either a pump laying around, a housing, or any advice on if i should just iliminate the system?

A lot of people remove the system, but it may throw a readiness code that could prevent you from getting your smog certificate.

Otherwise, the parts can be easily bought on ECS.

Re: SAI housing??? Advice on removing the system?

In Connecticut we only have emissions, and I jsut passed it about 3 months ago, and that is good for 2 years. So as of now i dont have to worry about it. Plus the system is corrupt, on my mustang i used to have in highschool i took it to get emissioned and i had no cats or anything, and the guy let me pass even though there is no way it ever would.

If anyone had removed it and has info that would be and has info on what that entails and the pros and cons that would be great.

Re: SAI housing??? Advice on removing the system?

XcartelX is right. If you remove it you'll keep getting a CEL for "insufficient flow". I, personally, have the whole system removed but my tuner (ASP) went into the ECU and removed the "insufficient flow" code so I never get a CEL and it will always read "acceptable". ASP will do this for you only if you are using their software.

I recall, on OBDII vehicles, in CT the test facility needs to plug the car in and get a physical print-out of the status. DMV requires this. I'm doing it Monday for my Jeep so I can register it. DMV won't let me register my Jeep without this print-out. They even gave me a temp tag Tuesday with the wrong expiration date so I get to drive the Jeep from NJ to CT tomorrow with an expired temp tag. Bunch of frogmen (fcvking morons) over there.

I need to check the CT laws to see if you can pass with one 'failed' readiness code. In your case, it'll be the SAI code. Assuming you can live with the CEL lit up all the time....

I'll look at your photos above tonight when I get home from work (can't see them here) and PM you back about the pump. I don't have my original pump, just the TT pump.

Search for SAI, there is a ton of info on removal. Shawn has at least 3 threads about this. The downsides are a CEL, emissions testing, a little more greenhouse gas, and possible startup problems. The upsides are less clutter, less complexity.

Re: SAI housing??? Advice on removing the system?

If its going to cause problems then i def want to fix it. The other half of my post was also to see if anyone had extra housings or pumps or a way for me to fix that chip. Everything works fine on the pump, but i just broke that little piece.

And does anyone know if i will be able to make the tt pump work with my car, or am i just dreaming??

Several people have ripped theirs out, so I would imagine someone still has one laying around.

Let me know if you need it. I'm not sure how much they're worth. How about $25 shipped and mine is from a 2002 also.

    Re: SAI housing??? Spare pump?

I was looking at the TT pump I have and I'm 99% positive its the same pump but with a different mounting bracket after looking at your pictures.

I can't find a part number on it but I did find this "PA6-GF30". It was on the surface where the large hose connects.

The hose connections look like they are in the same spot and same size. The three bolts look like they are in the same location to bolt your chassis bracket on. etc...

here is a photo of the TT pump for your reference:
