Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, i want to purchase an XM Radio Receiver but was wondering if this will work? The part # is 8E0035593A, also is this plug and play? Where does it connect? My car is a Base 08 A4 CVT 2.0T. I dont have sirius, bluetooth, ipod, or cd changer. Just plain basic. When i hit SAT on the radio, it says No receiver. Please help asap! I also have the Tire pressure monitor system..I read the faq/diy but it didnt make sense..

Re: XM Radio Reciever HELP ASAP!!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think because you have a 2008 you need to find the satellite receiver that has the single fakra connector..the one your showing has two (the red and green thing). Also, Audi stopped making the XM recievers for the 2007 + because they signed an exclusive contract with sirius, so I dont think you can get XM on your 08. But 8E0 035 593 H is the part number for the sirius reciever that will work on the 2008. I like sirius better anyways.

The install is real easy, you just open the left panel in your trunk, pull out the plastic thing, and connect the appropriate wires.

I remember reading something where you can't just add a plug and play satellite radio receiver to any car, the head unit has to be setup for it or something. I could be wrong though.

Has anyone here heard of someone adding satellite radio to their car?

After installing the sat module in the trunk (search forum), there is a switch/connector that is on the outside (towards the door) of the passager seat that needs to be switched to a different position to tell the car that it has a sat module, meaning that you don't have to recode the car with a computer or anything like that.

As far as the part number, search the forums for specific part number or ask your dealer and then look it up online because after mid 2007 audi switched to a single fakra connector on the sat module.

Note: when i say search the forum im not being a bad person, its just that we have to learn how to search.

Re: XM Radio Reciever HELP ASAP!!

I have already searched but as i mentioned, the diy/faq does not make sense..

    Here is why:

    # 8E0 035 593/8E0 057 593 Sirius without RNS-E and without tire pressure monitoring system

    # 8E0 035 593 A/8E0 057 593 A XM without RNS-E and without tire pressure monitoring system

    # 8E0 035 593 D/8E0 057 593 D Sirius for RNS-E and/or with tire pressure monitoring system, works with Concert/Symphony as well

    # 8E0 035 593 E/8E0 057 593 E XM for RNS-E and/or with tire pressure monitoring system, works with Concert/Symphony as well

I have an 08 A4 with NO RNS-E and with tire pressure monitoring system. That is why im confused on which one to get..

Any of those should do it for you, but make sure they have 1 connector (which will require a lot of patience since they hard to find).

Yo Latin, if you want some good entertainment while at work and have headphones you can use to listen, tune in to Maxim Radio on channel 108. If you go right now, you'll catch my favorite show, Covino and Rich. It's on from 3 - 7 pm Eastern.

Sorry to not contribute to the Sirius tuner problem, though! I am personally a fan of Sirius portable players as opposed to the integrated system. The interfaces are more detailed, and the portable ones have some awesome features like active recording, plus its portable. I have mine hard-wired to the stock deck, and it sounds awesome.

i have read in these forums that there is an adapter, its made by Terk.. not sure if it's for converting two wires into the single sirius reciever or one wire into the sirius with two connectors.

    yes....http://www.unbeatablesale.com/mrtm19...i_sku=MRTM1914

I used to have the same setup on my '07 (same xm head unit + the audiovox/terk adapter) and it worked fine.
and as #6 post says, you need to change a connection to the CAN BUS to enable SAT - http://audi.barrystuff.com/s4/satRad...sat_canBus.pdf

here's the write-up in AudiWorld that helped me install - http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec121.shtml

    hope this helps.

Re: XM Radio Reciever HELP ASAP!!

Does anyone know how the radio would function if the cable is not switched? I had the dealer install xm for me and I can recieve about 4 stations, but everytime I call xm to program it the unit never picks up the new stations. I know the antenna works because I can listen to the preview stations I just cant get it programed. My dealer is an hour away so I would rather not drive there to have them fix it. I used to do this stuff for a living so I im not worried about fixing it myself just looking for a little insight. If its the cable it would be great but if not its most likely the tuner and off to the dealer I go. Any assistence would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
