    tiptronic question

i've noticed on my car , after shifting into park the car will either roll a couple inches forward or backwards depending on the surface.

i'm pretty sure this isn't normal , .. and maybe its just me but it now feels like I have to put a little bit more force into moving the shifter to get in a mode.

i'd greatly appreciate any kind of input on this situation. btw my a4 is about to hit the 45k mile mark.. if it helps.

This happens to me if it's parked on a slope, normal. Yes the shifter is a rock to move on a slope,

    Re: tiptronic question

^^ur car will roll with the slightest incline because when u put it in park ur brakes aren't applied ur car basically moves into a lock gear which prevents the axles from turning forward or reverse more than a few inches! it is totally normal, be a man and use ur handbrake everywhere flat or slopped!

    Eh?

    Re: tiptronic question

This happens to all automatics. There's nothing to worry about. Indeed, use your hand brakes!

    Re: tiptronic question

Its the slack in your drivetrain which is allowing your car to roll like that, mine does it anytime I park on a surface that isn't flat. But like everyone else says, use your e-brake, its easier on the transmission when your trying to shift out of P if you parked on an incline...

    Re: tiptronic question

No need to use your e-brake if you park on a flat surface. No point in potentially warping the rotors if you don't have too...
