i just had my stage 2 awe clutch installed and when i drove the car the rpms would shoot all the way to redline and the MPH wouldnt move with it. Its like the clutch wasnt catching. what could be the problem

later on i go stuck in traffic and now the clutch seems to be ok....

should i have the shop check something over, or does the clutch adjust itself?

did you slip the clutch real bad before you noticed that it revved up without moving you at the same rate? If so you may have got the clutch hot and glazed the clutch and caused it to slip until it cooled down and then from driving normal it wore the clutch in again allowing it to grip.

    Re: clutch install question

you are not supposed to go tear on a new clutch. You are supposed to drive several hundred miles like 500-1000 of normal driving shifting gears to break it in and seat the clutch. If you went out and did a 6000rpm clutch drop than you probably did like I said and glazed the clutch. Just drive as normal as posible for a few hundred miles shifting frequently (dont get on the interstate and put it on cruise for 200 miles then think its broke in). You need to be engaging and disengaging it many many times.

    what he said ^^^

any clutch needs break in but any high performance clutch needs at least 500 miles of straight city driving with lots of engagement/disengagement or 1000 miles of mixed driving... i put 1000 on my FE SS before even starting to drive it hard and 1500 before i dumped it at 5k
