URGENT ! Got a question about taillights, please help !

well, I need to replace my taillights in order to pass an inspection ( it had smoked taillights on), so I bought a pair of used taillights locally from some wrecker, and I believe it is different from my original ones, so when i put it on, the lights are messed up which means i cannot pass inspection. I think the pair i got is from a facelifted B5 A4, the wiring in the taillights is bit different

My questions, if i am going to buy a pair of used taillights, what year model should i been looking for? Mine is 97 audi a4.

Or if it is possible to swap the wires on the new one and make it work?

the 97 ,98, or 99 styles should work well for you
