Is there any way to cancel the automatic shifting from 1st to 2nd when shifting "manually" or at least delay it? No matter how hard I stomp on it, it always shifts out of first around 2k rpm.

    Re: Tiptronic question

it's a software mod you can program via vag-com ~ requires updating the code to enable sport mode

but i don't know more about it since it's not an issue for me =)

    Re: Tiptronic question

That does not sound correct. A few questions:

Are you driving in "D" or "S" or Tip mode?
what year and model car is this?

If I drive in "S"port mode, and accelerate hard, it holds first to the redline
If I drive in TIP mode it holds first to the redline
If I drive in "D"rive mode it won't hold to redline, not sure where it shifts because I never drive in D.

    Re: Tiptronic question

he said "shifting manually" so in TIP.

It is defintely feasible and only takes 5 minutes with a VAG CMO or VAg Tool.
Change your stock code from 01002 or 00002 to 32 at the end.
It'll have the sport shifting and also hold 1st gear to red line.

In tip mode my only shifts at redline -- it did this even before I recoded the transmission. So, something still doesn't sound right to me.

Trust me -- it's on the list along with ECU flash.

That one's been sitting on the list for a long time.

    Re: Tiptronic question

to buy your own VAG is expensive, a few hundred from Ross Tech. However a $20 to a friend w/ VAG or other compensation should get the recode done for you. Do that first.

If you plan to mod you car, defintiely get your own VAG.

    Re: Tiptronic question

Yeah find smoeone local to you with a VAG and have them do it. It'll take them 5 minutes and most guys are willing to do that. That's what I did, I posted a thread on the fourm asking for help locally. Gyus did it for free, I brought him a 12 pack!

I just bought a VAG TOOL for a GB (Audizine GB section) for $200 shipped I am psyched! can't wait to get it!

Get the VAST tip chip, it is only $350 and much betetr than the GIAC one. Makes the most of the power, feels like yuo're putting more power down like on a manual. WORTH the $350!

No it IS right unfortunately,it is just the way the US Audis are set up. That's why that Vag Com mode is so popular.

    Re: Tiptronic question

Ok I recoded to 00022 and love it, but to me 32 just sounded too much like it is when its 00002 what is the 32 mode like? Does it auto upshift at like 4,000 rpm and redline when your on it. I like the 22, but often times it does get old, but if you let off after accelerating it upshifts for you.

I recomend doing this I love droping it to 1st around a bend and banging it on the way out. It was wet today and I even got a little wheel spin!

You could do it with the cheap ebay cable... I still recomend buying the full version, but you can, just letting you know :)
