    Question S4 2001 Tip... is it normal... shift from 1st to 2nd by itself in tip mode!?

    I just bought an S4 Tip a week ago and i was wondering if it's normal that the car shift from 1st to 2nd at only 2000rpm in tip mode. With my A4, i can wait until 6500rpm before shifting in 2nd! Than'x!?

    Yep its normal, you can recode the transmission with VAG-COM so it will hold 1st gear. 00032 from 00002

    So we just have to re-code 00032 to 00002 right!?

    I just bought an ECU with revo softwear... for the moment i think it will be OK.
    I just want to shift from 1st to 2nd when i want like in my good old A4! ;)

    I'm curious to know what Aud's explanation was for having tip S4's short shift 1st to 2nd. I think the B6's don't do that.

    thats weird, i have it recoded to 000032, but when im in tip mode it will still shift into 2nd for me whenever i let off the throttle at any rpm.

    so try going the other way to the 00002 or whatever it is. make sure you have the correct amt of 0's in there. if you have a registered VAG com you can always call them they are really helpful to those who PAY lol

    You need to bump the shift button once to hold first. when you put it in tip mode at a stop, just hit the downshift button one time and it will hold first for you. then you will not have to bump the shift button again until the next time you go from D to tip mode. BTW this is with the recode to 00032. 00002 will never hold first.
