Most people go custom or use rs6 exausts. i have milltek downpipes and catback.
here is the link to the company that sells them.

on 4.2 its more about the sound then performance...if you run downpipes w/o cats then you will see some little gains, maybe.....

ya ur absolutely right, im more about how its gonna sound. I'm not getting out on the track I just want a good rumble when I start up and a nice roar behind me.

So I'm basically looking Milltek or custom, what r my custom options?

    Thanks again,
    Steve

I went with the Milltek from Stratmosphere. Check out the sound clips of the S4 (V8) for an idea of how it should sound. Mine is still on order so I can't give you any further feedback yet but I decided against custom given the costs to do it right (wouldn't typically save a ton) and having a known entity, with warranty and the issues worked out already... Good luck and let us know what you do.

valid point with the warrantys. I am leaning toward getting the Milltek system, but its going to be a minute before I can get the cash together.

I have a background with metal work, worked in shops before I decided to go to school full time and work in the mall . SO if I can hook up a system with a comparable set of muffs and resonator, even if its still a grand, I save $$...By putting the time under the car.

Its just weighing the 2 out and finding the right products to substitute and making sure it will work correctly.

COME ON GUYS, THERE HAS TO BE SOMEONE ON HERE THAT HAS THOUGHT THE SAME THING?! WHOSE PUT THIS CUSTOM SYSTEM TOGETHER....

Re: Exhaust on 4.2z___Whats every1 running?

i'm putting a custom one on my car this weekend. I'm contriplating going with mid section mufflers like on muscle cars and just putting tips out the back. or just putting mufflers w/ tips on. i need to get under the car and see if theres room down there for a couple flowmaster 40's or something. i'll check my local parts store for muffler options and see what to do.
