Long story short. I went against the words of Jake, (ssayzarc) and maybe even Mike if I remember correctly. Anyways I was working with a shop who sold d!am0nd pistons and he recommended me to them blah blah blah. Going along with the flow I had him order me a set. OK great, now 3 months have gone by and I sitll don't have any pistons. I write a nasty email to the manufacturer and of course they didn't like that. Dumb move on my part. They tell the engine shop what happened and the asshole basically said, come get the pistons when they are in, take your engine, pay your balance, and find someone else to finsih the project. So basically I chose a POS shop to work on my engine, my own doing once again. See where this is going yet?
So. I am a little over 2k in parts, I owe the shop ~$600 for diassembly, cleaning of the block, not sure if he did any head work, installed new valve guides, and I believe that is all. We will have our words about that balance as that is not what I was quoted, but thats regardless of the fact.
So I will have a completely disassembled engine, no engine stand, all the parts, and some needed machine shop time...
Cylinders need to be bored for the 83mm pistons, crank needs to be balanced, if the heads need to be decked, yada yada yada all that good crap.
So What Would You Do?
1. Take the liberty of attempting to build the engine yourself. Not having any internal engine experience minus a TB and some other random maintenance. Risking the loss of around 3k in parts and labor for skipping over something small.
2. Pay an ass load for a very reputable Porsche shop in the area to finish the build.
3. Find someone locally who is an enthusiast to help build or build on their own the rest of the engine.
4. Scrap the project... for now.
Funds are somewhat limited but I can live on bread and milk for awhile if thats what it takes to get my car running again.
Located in Kansas City Missouri, anyone is willing to come out and help!!
Thanks for any and all feedback. And I am putting on the flame suit now just incase.
