    Car in Shop, need help!

Took my 02 1.8T CVT to the shop.

Problem: Vibration when accelerating. No vibration when I lift foot off the gas, vibrates again when I go to accelerate, shakes pretty bad. Feels like something is loose, if you know what i mean.

Shop says the pump in the tranny going bad, car does take time to get into Drive when at a stop sign or going from Park to Drive or Reverse to Drive.

They want me to get a used tranny, no price quote yet. Any feedback would be great.

And how long can I drive on it til bust city?

    Thanks in advance.

i'm not really familiar with auto trannies, but it almost sounds like you have either a loose wheel or an axel. I had a front wheel that was coming loose on my S4, and just cruising or decelerating there was nothing, but under load the car (mostly noticable in the steering wheel), would vibrate a ton.

Thanks Chris4. Did you have the wheels removed and then put back on or could you just tighten it yourself?

Is there a way to check if they are bad or do you have to tell them its the tranny mounts?

That is whats weird. No clunking when shifting into drive. No vibrations when revving the engine in Park.

i know this sounds stupid but make sure your wheels are true and are sitting flush against the hub. I had a missing lug nut that was causing tons of vibrations because the wheel was moving left and right causing vibrations.
    remember...
vibrations in the steering wheel are linked to your front wheels while vibrations in your seat are most likely caused by the rear tires

Is it coming from the tranny or could it be a coilpack? I had a problem with a coilpack once that would only happen when the engine was above 4400 rpm's and accelerating.

would a coilpack throw a code on the dash? man now u have me thinking...would that cause those violent vibrations though?
