I have XM for my symphony II and I hear that it will not be compatible with the RNS-E.

Will any new xm module work with the rns-e, or does the reciever have to be specifically made for an Audi?

    thx

if your Audi is a MY 2006 or newer the XM receiver should be compatible. If the car is older the receiver needs to be replaced. To be sure you have to check the part number, an index A will not work with the RNS-E, any higher index will work.

    Check XM with RNS-E

How do you check what version of XM I have? I have a 2005 and know they started to change over?

With VAG-COM on address 0F you can see the part number if you don't want to remove the trim to take a look at the receiver.

    Re: XM with RNS-E

If the part number ends in "A", then it won't work with the RNS-E. If the part number ends in "E", then it will work.

The "E" version started showing up in the 2005.5/2006 models.

Some of the 2005 B6 also had the "E" receiver.

I do have the "E" reciever, but I only get the preview channel w/ no sound. Is there another version I need?

    Re: XM with RNS-E

The adapter you use to connect the RNS-E needs to have the CD changer audio wires, otherwise you won't hear the SAT audio. If you only get the preview channels then the SAT receiver is not activated.

I forgot to mention that I do get reception in one spot, on my way to work. Does that rule out the adaptor?
