    Group Discount for Painted Lowers?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Got a PM from Headshok2002 asking if I ever found a body shop to have my lowers painted and thought that it might be a good idea to post an offer to join up and head to one shop in the hopes of getting a discount. So far Bramgate Volks which does the body work for Audi of Mississauga wanted 1200 to paint the lowers as well as the bumpers. Headshok2002 got a quote of 1300 from Mike at Pfaff in Newmarket which includes the USP front installation. If any of you are also shopping around, could you consolidate your findings here in this post and also inquire with the body shop if they are willing to do some sort of discount if a group of Audis were to have the work done.

    So far
Bramgate Volkswagen in Brampton – 1200 for lowers and includes bumper painting
Pfaff in Newmarket – 1300 for lowers and includes USP installation

Hes in the rexdale area , I'll see if I can track down his number. For you, he might ask for 600.

Bear in mind this is if you bring him the parts already off the car

Please don't let the dealer do it, it's marked up like hell. I'm bringing my car to G-Force or GFX for short. I just talked to Arnold and he says between $400-500 depending on the color. If you guys want to visit him or call him, he's at 1765 Shawson Drive, Unit 7(dixie and 401), number is 905-670-2807. Tell him Lorenzo sent you since I just talked to him.

I'd like to avoid the dealer prices... but the dude at Pfaff knew this procedure inside and out. Lots of experience with it, and the price (1300) included the bumper trimming and installation of the USP front bumper... as well as re & re all other pieces: door blades, rocker cover, rear bumper, front bumper.

Not sure how hard it is to get the rocker covers on/off... I imagine the rear and front bumpers are easy enough, and the door blades are a piece of cake.

Very easy to remove, 10 minutes a side, tops.

So realistically... it makes sense to remove this stuff ourselves if a body shop is charging 300~ for re & re? Doesn't sound like 300 bucks worth of work, to me...

I'd sooner rip it all off, drop it off, have it painted and put it back on. Should be able to find somebody to paint a bunch of loose pieces for 400-500 without any issue at all.
There are guys here who have installed the USP lower section themselves, too... right? It's a DIY-able job?

So i spoke with 3 shops, (why don't body shops ever clean their lots...I'm POSITIVE that i have a nail screw and gold tooth in each of my tires by now). The general number seems to be an average of 550 if we bring the parts and 950 if we bring the car. Since the pricing from "strangers" is close to the pricing from those recommended by "lorvar", i'd rather stick to a shop that someone has actually used and truly refers us to. I' also going to check my bentley to see how to remove the lowers even though I'm a bit scared.

Funny how I can rebuild my motorcycle engines without a second though but touching my Audi scares me...

Haha, good job on the recon. Yeah, I might just take the stuff off and take it somewhere... I really want it done at a shop that has done it before -- so they are prepped and done properly. The only part that concerns me is my ability to modify the upper bumper to accept the USP lower. Pfaff said that they use urethane and clips to hold it on... It's a permanent mod.

I've removed the sides before. The back is an entire piece, not 2 pieces as some believe. The front is two pieces, but I think removing the whole thing is wise.
