Thumbs down CF Splitter Came In Today...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
...And i was not impressed. i was dissapointed with the quality of the product. it was much thinner then i expected and it did not have a nice finish what so ever. NOT predrilled like the one advertised (which isnt a big deal) but it mad me think that maybe i recieved a "replica" and not the actual thing... it didnt have a badge or stamp anywhere on it with a name brand so idk... here are the pictures...

It was packaged great... i guess thats where my $130 fo shipping went...

Here you can see that its not one thick piece.. rather a thin one "stamped" out and rolled over to give the impression of gurthieness...

Here is the finish quality. it has these spots ALL OVER IT! and they dont come off.. i almost wetsanded and buffed it... but said fuck it...

i installed it once but i felt like it stuck out way too far... so i redrilled and puched it in abotu a half an inch... and also took out the rubber spacer fron the last screw in the back because it made the bumper flex out weird...

i have a feeling that imma have to trim that off when i get my rims this thursday...

i mean, i think it fit great.. and lookes better then the kerscher <sp? one... but if i knew it was gonna be like this.. i would have saved myself $517.00 for something else...

i think i could take 500 and pay someone to design a lip that will fit perfictly on the fonr end of a USP bumper... matter of fact... if you know anyone that know how to do that.. i will gladly invest in the creation of a front lip spoiler for a USP front... one that actually fits on and over the lower portion of the bumper under the grill...

From LLtek, thats the new version of mine. It had the same defects in the resin. Have it wetsanded and then clearcoated and they will go away. You will need to cut off the back of it where it extends into the wheel well, mine did the same. All splitters are just like that, none are as thick as they appear, not even the Kerscher

It looks pretty good on the car imo. pricey as hell though. Most likely no one but you will notice the imperfections when it's on the car.

550? u got jacked... I got a bran new kerscher splitter for nearly $200 online at a discount store.... it fit GREAT and is made for the USP/ Oettinger car. U should screw down the middle part in the center of the splitter/bumper because it will flex in the wind while driving fast...

You dont have to put a bolt in the center ... it wont go anywhere! And the Kerscher splitter was made for ... the KERSCHER front bumper, not USP or Oetty

Yeah man, it looks good....I know how you feel though, for $500 scoobie snacks you better get an A+ product that will last a long time.

But, I was never a fan of any CF splitter only because

    1. they're expensive
    2. the second you scrape, they're no longer "perfect"...
    3. thats way too much $$ for something that's supposed to functionally be a scrape guard.
    4. CF = invitation for knuckle heads to steal or step on your splitter

    But what do i know.....

Now, if someone made regular old OEM black colored plastic splitters for $100, that's a different story. expendable. cheap. functional.

Considering you quit you job and are living off the last paycheck, I'm not sure a CF splitter was the way to go. Unless you have something lined up, then

Looks good. Just trim the damn thing.

it was like 380 and 130 for shipping... after all that it cameout to 5 something... but I just came back from taking care of some business and I got a chance to look at it a few times on thee car and... I like it lol I just need to have it wet sanded and resprayed and it'll be good.. I think its alittle crooked the more I look at it too.. but even tho I kinda like it more now. I still feel jipped outta some money for the shipping cost and th quality of the product....

doesn't do it for me! i just can't justify $500 for that, i'd much rather buy a Cupra Splitter and do it myself! it doesn't look that great either, no offense, i think if ur grilles were blacked out then maybe! but i think it needed to be thicker! but all in all i think u'll be happy,. i have to get used to it!

i agree with you on the price. it is WAY TOO MUCH for what its worth i think. The CF rear valence i recieved for GREG@DTH was in much better condition and hade a way better finish. i did pay less for the valence and it smaller then the splitter but i just believe the quality of this thing should have been alot better/stronger/thicker but the more you see it on the car the better it looks to me... i think the veristic pictures of the rubber spacers make it look as cheap as it should be.. but standing a few steps back and looking down at it... it looks nice!!! lol

^^very true i looked at it after i posted my post and it looked much better actually pretty nice second time around! The car has the potential! first things first black out the grilles, second Clear Corner it, 3rd Lower it, and 4th stare with amazement! i can picture ur car now and it's look so sick! but regardless ur car looks OEM+ but still really clean, thats the most important!

technically if you wanted to you could fill and seal in a few layers of fiberglass on the bottom if you feel it's too flimsy. im not sure on just how that works with fg/cf... but it seems like the resin would be the same if not very very similar

    its up to you

Thanks... took a minute for me to come around too.. but i kinda like my chrome grills.. i think itll go with my s4 mirrors down the line as well as my rims... as for the clear corners... i think imma go with a joey mod... but do it a gunmetal metalic grey.. not just black.. imma lower it in a few more months maybe in the mid summer...

the only reason i suggested FG/resin is because that's most likely to adhere to it unless you fill the whole thing with bondo lol.

I would never have installed it without either getting a partial refund or returning the item. I bought a body kit and the fit and finish isn't perfect, in fact the body shop is going to have to refinish the bad spots and make some custom stuff for a proper fit. I called the manufacturer and they refunded all my money for the kit plus 1/3 of the shipping in order to keep their reputation. You should still call the company and show them pics and mention that you were on this board showing the bad quality. Fight man , fight!!

LLTEK doesn't care much about their reputation -- that's something we've all known for a long time.

their shit is so expensive they could stay in business by selling 1 or 2 kits a month

Like I said, I would have made a stink about it and although it's not feasable to send it back, they should recognize you are not happy with the product. They should give you a partial refund, Push them!!! Tell them about there reputation being shitty on these forums.
