Hi, just picked up my '08 A4 (pics to come).

Q. about the SIRIUS subscription that was to be included with the vehicle... how did you guys go about activating it? I went online to SIRIUS.com and it says that this SID is already activated...

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

first thing first, congrats on your new car!

if I remember correctly, you need to set the channel to 184 and wait until it downloads the data.
after a few minutes or so, you'll see some messages displaying and then that's about it.
verify the setup by tuning into other channels, i.e. ch. 1 or 2, and if you hear the music, then you're done.

btw, got a question for ya.
if you bought a new car, why had SID been activated already?
I had to call Sirius and set up an account first.
just curious.

just call sirius and do it over the phone.

and it shouldnt be activated, if so, your dealer made a mistake.

well just so you know, they come equipped to run sirius or xm, but as i my case, you have to buy sirius service and then have the final installation as well as activation for it to work

Thanks for all your help. Ended up calling SIRIUS and got it all cleared up... now signed up for my free 12-months.

I tried to do it online... and that is where it told me that my device was already registered. When I called in, there was no issue.

Now trying to figure out which of the many stations is any good... too much selection. lol...

How do you find your sirius serial number? I want to activate mine but I am not sure where to get that number.

you tune to channel 0. without activation, you get only 184 (weather) and 0 (also weather, but the SID displays on the screen). Or, just call Sirius and give them your VIN. That's what I did, and they were able to look up my SID cause I was too stupid to notice that the deck actually had changed stations when I rotated the dial.

It should be in the front of the radio instruction manual.

As for me, the dealer set up my Sirius for me while I was there, called Sirius and all that. I need to call them today and set up my online stream.
