    Tightening the internal door handle

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just picked up an '01 1.8T yesterday and am slowly going through and fixing some small things. One of those things is a slightly loose inner door handle on the driver-side. It hangs a bit and isn't as stiff as the passenger side (or my previous '01 2.8.)

It still pulls and opens the door correctly and easily, but it just...hangs a bit.

What needs to happen for me to tighten that?

You cant's fix that! Search for Audi DIY in google and find instructions on how to take the panel off. Check for yourself to see that the spring that hold it tight is probably broken. Then, go to ecs.com and buy a new door handle. Fix it 5 min.
    Good luck.

Gah! I wasn't expecting to have to buy the whole $50-$60 handle insert. Thanks a lot for the guidance.

its def a broken spring it happens to all of them. ecstuning sells the whole part and its really easy to put in, just a few screws and the same for taking off the door panel to get to it.

i would give you the link but its not copying right.
    1. go to audiworld.com
    2. go to "resources" then "tech articles"
    3. on the first page there is the topic "removing door handle"
    that has everything you need

Re: Tightening the internal door handle

haha i have that same exact problem on both my drive and passenger doors like 3 years ago, but being a lazy bump, I still haven't fixed it. But they work fine and that's the most important thing~
