Color Change??

Hey guys Im thinking of getting my car repainted bc i have a lot of rock chips on the front of my car. I really like the Audi white and that is the color that I had originally wanted until my car kinda fell into my lap.

So to get to the point do you think it is a waste of money to totally change the orginally color of the car. Right now it is black, I know going from one extreme to the other. I have a good buddy of mine that has his own paint shop and he does all the work for the dealerships around town....

I wouldnt do it unless you intend to strip everything from the trunk/engine bay/interior. I would keep it the same paint code. It's just going to look really cheap if you pop the hood and your engine compartment is black and the rest of your car is white.

i always wondered about that. Would everything be painted? The inside door frames, underneath the hood, the interior engine bay? All that painted? If it wasn't, wouldn't it look weird? Black on the inside, white on the outside? Just paint it black.

good point about the engine bay, i thought about everything except that, it would be a hassle to pull the engine just to paint it ill let just get it repainted in black

when i had my b6 s4, it was yellow..i went to this local body shop and i wanted to paint it Nimbus gray, which is found on the MK1 Audi TT models...it would've been sick..but when the guy told me about 8k, i said forget it. But, this including stripping the car down to bare bones(which is the correct way to do it)

If your car is black, it won't look bad if you paint the car a different color and leave the engine bay black. There are a lot of car with black engine bays.

maybe you can snap some pics and photoshop to get an idea of the contrast; in my head, i can't visualize if black door jams engine bay and trunk rim would look like a nice contrast against a white car, or if it would look cheap.

To do a proper job, you need to spend ~$15k and after the fact you will have a car with a color change. If you ever decide to sell, most people will not go near it with a ten foot pole and you'll have to sell it below value.

Black is awesome. If you have rock chips get the front end painted and if you want white, sell your car and buy a white one.
