    piggybacks/standalone/pinouts

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I want to try to install a piggyback controller or a standalone system into my 1997 B5 A4 QTM.
I need help planning out this install, and for starters need a detailed accurate pinout of our ECU's.

I'm thinking about trying to use a MAP ECU or possibly an AEM standalone.
I presume if I can match the correct pinouts to the appropriate leads of the controller/ECM, then I can successfully install and use one of these systems, as well as provide a concise writeup so others who are interested in this might follow...
Any help will be greatly appreciated

I found that it was easier to just run new wiring for everything.

034 sells a harness for their SEM that plugs into the stock harness.

Maft-Pro or Greddy emanage blue OR ultimate, hell even a SAFC II would be a breath of fresh air for this platform. Honda Civic AEM EMS cut in to work on our Audi's HAS been done several times (according to AEM)
Basically, if I can get my hands on an ECU pinout chart, I dont think it would be all that difficult.
Anyone know where I can find one

SAFC's have been done on the A4, problem is they only work on the ndbw cars.

If AEM said it has been done on the Audi, did they give you contact #'s for you to see if this is true? I asked the owner of AEM this question at a NHRA event he said no, this is one of the reasons I went with 034.

a simple haynes manual should have everything you need if you can read a wiring diagram.

    Re: piggybacks/standalone/pinouts

Thanks for your response. Have you looked at Haynes manuals lately? They are lacking, to say the least. Usually the wiring diagrams are incomplete or inaccurate. I am looking for the Bentley version, for the hole fuel injection system, not just what Haynes thinks the "home mechanic" may need.

    Re: piggybacks/standalone/pinouts

We wired dietbuddas car with a split second piggy back system and the haynes manual was pretty accurate compared to the mitchell diagrams. It should have MOST of what you need. I think the only thing we couldn't find in there was maybe a crank position sensor pin out.For $12 bucks you can't beat it.
