Because they are a fraud. When it comes time for repairs.A battery pack on a Ford Escape hybrid is $10k can you imagine what an Audi would cost.I've heard stories where has been cheaper for people to buy a totaled Prius to replace the generator than buy a replacement. How green a burning leaking battery pack in a wreck. Hydrids are only usefull in the city.Diesel is the way to go.Everybody gets all excited about a 45mpg Prius when diesel Jettas have been doing that for years and in greater comfort.

I know hybrids are weak and if they are not they dont get the best mileage (Tahoe Hybrid) I know that diesels get better gas mileage but isnt it worse for the environment?

Im just tying to get information not to offered.

    Thanks

It all depends on who you listen to.A hybrid takes alot of energy and resources to produce.I maybe wrong but I believe that in Europe emmisions are measured on per liter of fuel burned which is a much more accurate way to compare gas vs diesel. There are far more resources to get diesel. With the new low sulfur diesel and the forth coming diesels with urea injection diesels are going to rule the automotive landscape.Back in the mid to late 70's when there was a gas crunch diesels blossomed.2/3 of all cars sold in Europe are diesel. So goes Europe so goes the world.Has been that way for ever

Re: Any Word on an Audi hybrid?

ok for those that don't already know, hybrids are just a feel good purchase. buy a diesel if you want better mileage. yes, purchasing a hybrid will reduce the amt. of gas you use, thus helping out the environment and our country. once the car reaches around 100K miles you'll need to replace the battery, which costs about $9-10K for a toyota...i can't even imagine how much it would be for an audi hybrid.

they can't properly dispose of the old batteries. if you'd like your old battery to sit in a landfill and not decompose for the next bazillion years, all the while leaking battery acid and whatever else is in there, then be my guest purchase a hybrid. you'll be reducing our gasoline consumption and ruining canadian land at the same time, how awesome!

every time i see a hybrid i want to vomit. people need to inform themselves before they try to save the earth.
