    FMIC Install Pics

Sorry for the iPhone 2 megapixel pics but I couldn't find my digital camera. This install took us from 12AM to 5AM.... I haven't slept yet and I'm going to be out cold very soon for quite a while. I ordered an AutoBahn 88 FMIC from ebay for $500 shipped and I have to say it's a really good deal. It's a good size and everything fit perfectly. The only problem was that it didn't come with the 2 bolts to mount the intercooler but I had some in the garage. We also installed a Reiger RS4+ bumper.... slightly modified. Got rid of that crazy fog light stuff.

We just got back from driving the car and wow what a big increase in power. I got it stage 1 chipped yesterday and it wasn't nearly as quick as this. It just pulls very hard and spins the tires in first. We also installed an GReddy BOV and the spool is insanely loud and the blow off is nuts. I'll get a video when I get a chance.

    On to the pics

    Jacked up and wheels removed

My friend trying to find those damn allen screws to pull the bumper off

    Bumper removed

    Removed sidemount

    FMIC Mounted

End result... the bumper needs to be fitted better (you can tell looking at the drivers side) ... The bumper is hitting the piping and needs to be dremmelled some more but I'm exhausted now.

Oh I just thought of this but I'm going to search when I post... is there a way to make the damn computer stop telling me that my fog lights are out?

it might be the same core, but the end tanks are different than a racetec (its pipes connect more in the middle instead of at the bottom) and it has chrome pipes

if you don't want the computer to be telling you every time you that your fog's are out, just put the bulb of the fogs in a plastic bag and leave them hiding somewhere behind the bumper.

lol! i have a fully supported 1+ setup with a stasis diff and a southbend stage 5 FE SS clutch that grips like a bear trap and i can barely spin the rear tires before it jumps off the line. ive snatched second a few times when turning..

in the wet however i can easily get sideways especially when doing a u-turn!

Just the way the piping runs... quality of the kit is very good and it was a steal. I'm happy with it.

did yours get screwed up after installing a FMIC too???

i thought my pump just ate shit, and have been driving without PS... but this morning it felt like it came back and was working fine till the car warmed up.

im wondering if something else is wrong? i plan to grab some PS fluid and a new PS cooler from autozone this week to see if it helps

there is no need to unhook it unless you are rigging up a aftermarket tube/fine one..i got a hayden from autozone for $25... before the shit factory one would get too hot to touch, i can run this one hard and its barely even warm now..

Right after the install fmic and test drive. I had a hard time turning, so I check the PS resivoir and it was empty. So the next day I went to the dealer to buy fluid.

I think the new bumper looks much better than stock but it does look like its missing parts without the grilles :)

What a bitch that must have been. I just read the whole DIY on a4mods and I'd almost rather pay someone to do it for me. The gains sound like they are definitely worth it though. I'm going stage 1+ in a couple of days and all I have to support it is a DV so I might consider this for the summer.

Well just do this. Search the web site for the good cores and look at their prices and then ask yourself why the good cores cost way more then the Ebay fmic with the actual end tanks welded on already. Plus look at the SMIC's for our cars which also cost 2-3 times as much as a Ebay fmic. You get what you pay for when ordering Ebay parts and shouldn't expect them to perform or fit nearly as well as a FMIC kit built for the A4 which uses a much better core.

Oh god I'm back on audizine. My friend is thinking about getting this same kit, and thought I'd do a little research.
Please no more IM's. I'm no longer on this board. If you need anything I can be found at vwvortex.com under the Golf MK4 section under Nevaeh_Speed... Also on Dubberzine.com under Neaveh Speed... 1000rr.net under Nevaeh Speed.
