I got this code too after changing my timing belt. I cleared it and it never returned.

Is the code coming back again and again?
Your timing belt might have skipped a tooth. Line up your engine to Top Dead Center. Marking on the cam gear line up to the notch in the valve cover, and at the same time the marking on the crank gear line up to the notch on the plate above it. Do not drive the car until this problem is fixed.

Re: CEL= P0011 "A camshaft position (bank 1) timing over advanced"

i received this CEL code when my cam chain tensioner was going bad in my B5 A4. i knew about the problem though, there was a pretty loud rattle under the valve cover because the cam chain was running a bit slack. if the problem is indeed associated with this your cam position sensor might be going bad instead.

btw if this is what's wrong it is pretty rare, especially for a car located in chicago at 55K miles. a bad cam chain tensioner is frequently found out west in colorado, utah, wyoming, etc where it's really dry climate.

now why would this code show up in my car when I changed the timing belt? I know everything was lined up properly. But I also know that before I put the belt on the crank moved. I cleared it and like I said it hasn't returned.

This is a common problem when people put on timing belts. You most likely have the timing belt a tooth off... Keep an eye out to see if you get that code again. It take nothing to roll over your timing to TOP DEAD CENTER and check. I feel like I'm preaching to the choir here lately on checking timing...
