Firstly Hi to you all over here, Im from the UK and Seek some serious advice for my Future Mods.

Ive been all over Audizine collecting some real good Advice, Im a member on the Audisport.net and Im driving a A4 1.8T Qauttro Sport B6..

My first of many Questions is, I have lad my hands on a full set of Porsche 996 Calipers (pads, discs included) and want to fit these to me ride, I cant find anywhere that will supply the Mounting brackets, any ideas? Ive checked out Bira but was wondering if there is anywhere else you guys could point me to..

Just to clarify, the 996 calipers will fit my motor will they??
Has anyone done it before who could show me an example...??

Im thinking of bigger discs but obviously depends on what Brackets are available!!

    "to me car" hehehe
post pictures of those calipers it would help us tell you if they fit or not
    Contact 2bennett for caliper brackets
The discs now porsche are very good quality if the center fits on your hub have them brought to a machine shop to drill holes on 5/112 and you may be able to use them

First of all, welcome! I would seriously consider contacting ECS, they know thier stuff with brakes. I was just in England not long ago, saw my car in right hand drive, hilarious! Cheers from DC!

    Re: Porsche Brakes

search up the ECS mounting brackets, they have had many break... i would think by the time its done you will have the same if not more money spent for the used porsche brakes which arent even designed for our cars.. they are great brakes but made for a lighter, mid engined car that is RWD.. stoptec for the $$$

    Re: Porsche Brakes

Since you're in the UK, you may want to have a chat with the folks at AmD. They are well known Audi/VW tuners in the UK. When I was looking at brake upgrades, they did mention something about using Porsche brakes as an alternative, although I cannot remember which Porsche model they were referring to. See www.amdtechnik.com for their contact details.

    Thanks guys for the replies.
Yeah Ive been talking to Doug at MRC and he knows his stuff but it works out a whole lot cheaper if I can source the brackets myself.
Ive been in touch with a Guy from Germany, he advertises them on German Ebay for 150Euros which aint bad IMO.

Does any of you know whats the Biggest Disc size I can go?
I was originally looking at changing to the S4 B6 brakes as they are straight swap and the discs are 345mm, nice n Big

...but the Porsche calipers do it for me, they just look alot sexy especially when they are mounting some Grooved discs !!!

    Re: Porsche Brakes

Any updates on this? New info? I saw the same caliper adapters on ebay.de and I've wondered about using Porsche calipers as well.

    Re: Porsche Brakes

You will need "custom" caliper adapter brackets, and custom rotor hats, to make those calipers fit & function on your A4.

You will need to find a machinest who has experience in this arena, and has done a few brakes. Dont be suprised by the costs! "Custom=$$$$$$$$$!"

    Welcome!

As was previously stated, the Porsche braking system is designed for a rear-engined, rear-wheel-drive car that happens to weigh heaps less. The balance will be off, and you'll have to have some stuff custom fabricated to make it fit properly. Though ECS Tuning does sell the kits. If your heart is set on the Porsche grabbers then shoot them an email for their advice.

From what I've read online, most Audi-heads prefer either:

    1. Alcon
    2. Brembo
    3. Stoptech

For my money, Alcon is the only choice; simply put, it's because of their racing pedigree. But until then, I'll be swapping on some B5 or B6 S4 brakes to last the time being. (Albeit later on, though) It's tough to beat plug-n-play in my books (especially when you're talking about a $4000US Alcon set up).

    Good luck!

Except Brembo's dates back before Alcon was even established. They also have a considerably larger base of motorsport customers.
