now chipped with an APR stage 2. I was told by the dealer that a cold intake doesnt make any difference in horsepower and might cause problems. Is it true the air filter in a carbonio airintake needs to be oiled? Should I stick with apr for a cat back? Any help would be appreciated

    Re: does it or not

Im not 100% on the 2.0t, but the logic still persists with a turbo motor, your running a small turbo, which creates lots of heat, compared to a larger turbo that wouldnt have to work as hard. The air will be compressed and really hott, the intercooler or w/m would be ideal for actually making a difference, carbonio possibly help with some of that DV sound, but has been tested as a expensive accessory with little difference.
Oily filters are troublesome for MAFs so thats always a worry. And if its a K and N oil filter yes, reusable, cleaning kits are like 20 bucks at autozone.
Cant attest to your a3 catback, but apr does some quality work, theres no doubt about that, expensive but amazing. I love the sound of mine with a highflow cat. Never had a problem

Thanks for the help. I guess I dont want to cause more problems than its worth. I think Ill add the exhaust and go from there.

    Re: does it or not

I haven't heard a single report of anyone's intake causing any problems. The only way I could see this happening is if the filter is too thin and/or is not properly filtering the air being ingested. This is more likely for a filter like the K&N since it is has higher flow rates at the expense of poorer filtering properties. Even so, no one has posted that their intake has caused any real type of problem. Oh, and the carbonio filter does not require oiling, simple a rinse and dry every couple years probably.

If you want to install a higher flowing intake, go for it. Don't do it for the power increase alone or else you will likely be disappointed. Besides the slight performance boost, I enjoy the sound of my Evolution Motorports intake system.

Did you get the APR downpipe? If so, the APR cat back goes superbly with it, I can attest to that.

Thanks for the input. I guess my goal is an improvement in power, while remaining as stock in appearance as possible. I fear adding an exhaust and intake will change that. I dont want to sound/ look like the rice rockets running around.

Look into Milltek exhaust. Quieter and more stock looking. I love mine! The Carbonio intake will not give you any problems it only replaced the section of intake by the headlight. It also never needs to be oiled which is good because it is a pita to remove the filter from the engine cover.
