Exclamation Problems and solutions regarding the B5 S4/RS4 Forum

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello guys and gals,

It's unfortunately time we all have a little talk. I hope you're seated comfortably, and are ready for a chat.

To get right down to it, the overall vibe in this forum is not good. It's not what I'd call healthy, friendly, informative, or constructive. It's time to change that, and we need your help.

Over the seven someodd years of running Audizine, we've seen this before in some of the other Main Model-Line Forums, and even this one a few years back. I will fully own up to, and admit to, being partly at fault. This forum has gotten quite large and active over the past several months and we haven't staffed up the Moderator Team accordingly. That is one part of the solution we're looking to rectify shortly.

The other big piece is you. This is your forum and if you want it to succeed and be a viable source of information, as well as have some real camaraderie, then it starts and ends with you. If that's not what you want, then we'd rather not have you here. You have a number of other decent forums to spend your time on, so please go there instead.

Audizine has always been about the community as much as it has the knowledge. This place was started by friends with one thing in common, their passion for the four rings. Even though the site's much larger than it was seven years ago, the mission still remains the same. There is no reason to be fighting, bickering, e-thugging, or posting up bullshit for your own enjoyment. We need to go back to making this a fun, friendly, and informative community.

Thank you for reading this, and for your assistance with what I feel is a fairly simple request. We're all adults here, and just because there's a keyboard and monitor in-between us that doesn't mean we don't have to act like one.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

I agree. Also a bunch of reposts lately, but man are some of you harsh. Haha

I liked it back in '05 when I joined. Everyone was so helpful and no-one felt scared to post and not be flamed. I think jokes here and there are great and keep the forum fun, but a lot of sarcasm lately has been spreading.

If a repost occurs, I think the best thing to do would be to just link them their info. I mean there are only so many things a forum can contain, a repost is bound to happen.

    Exactly.

And for the sarcasm and jokes, there's always the Chatterbox Subforum.

We're currently on the hunt for at least two. The hard part is finding ones that are not only friendly and knowledgeable, but level headed and unbiased as well! We're working on it though, and by damned I'm determined as hell too!

I wouldn't even necessarily go that far. For stupid crap like the SSAC thread and whatnot, we need to stick that in an FAQ thread. I know on honda-tech there's a specific thread stickied that the top that has a link to basically every how-to or comparison thread. I think that would be effective to have basically everything answered and linked in one place. This way there wouldn't be so many bullshit "which exhaust is better" or "omg i bought a snub mount today and its awesome (even though nobody gives a shit)" threads.

The whole design of this site in general could use a revamp; more specifically an appearance/cosmetic forum for all models, rather than just model-specific, random threads, that way if people get bored and wanna look at other people's cars, they don't have to search through the gallery (which is not as easy to navigate as normal threads), they can just click "appearance/cosmetic" so everyone can post pix of their newest mods, etc.

we did this in the B5 A4 section. it worked great. i compiled a bunch of info with links and DIY's and do's and don't for modding. then some other's came up with some great engine building threads. and so on.. now it's in it's very own tech/diy sub forum. which this forum is lacking. but im sure Anthony is working on it..

i know i don't have an S4 currently. so i hope my text will still pertain to the subject at hand

Re: Problems and solutions regarding the B5 S4/RS4 Forum

i wholeheartedly agree w Anthony. im all bout spreadin the info, gettin it out there and sharing it w everyone. there are others who have tons of knowledge who never come on here or share. some are internet folks, most think they are too good or better than the rest of us. and often times jeer the AZ community. even AW folks act the fool. so i say we should try not emulate the "other" folks who dont share, or fall into the stereotype of AZ'ers and keep the content and quality as high as possible. more data, more info, more innovation, pics, interesting "What ifs," and other speed and auto tips.

i look forward to sharing my projects w yall. tons to come! keep it gully AZ, that is all.

Thank you so much! I come from several other forums where I post regularily, and although the information here is very good, I noticed the camaraderie not being up to par.

Hopefully everyone including myself can change that!

Re: Problems and solutions regarding the B5 S4/RS4 Forum

I will agree with you Anthony. I have been in several of the out of hand threads myself, and admit that I sometimes get very rowed up when im called out, or called a bullshitter. I apologize to you and any other administrator's or moderator's for blowing steam.

The last week or two the forum has turned into ground zero for the baby mama drama! lol So im going to be a bigger man here and apologize publicy about this, and say sorry to everyone else, yes EVERYONE, that ive came across to in a negative manor. I like everyone else would like to see what this platform can do, and sometimes yes I do let my biased opinion get the better of me, and fight for what i THINK is correct, but we all do at some point in time and I also apologize for that.

this is calling for a big ol' lol.
I agree though, everything i know about cars has come from this forum. When i first joined the site i couldn't follow any of these threads or help out that much, however owning my car for over a year and going through stage 1, 2, 3- and 3 soon i feel like i can lend a hand where ppl helped me. i never get hostile with ppl and say STFA or whatever, shit this kid i work with said, "dude have you ever seen those cars with 3 pedals" i mean come on, some ppl REALLY dont know! and thats a true story believe it or not

It is strange to see that people are fighting here so much. In our own forum in Finland we don't have at all this kind of hostile feeling than in here. We have guite strict moderation there, and we have to use our real name there also.

I hope that this forum will be better, and all the bullshit and fighting will stop.

you are knowledgeable? since when? since learning yourself a lesson about OEM exhaust manifolds?

    LOL, haaa, JK dude.

the typically arrogant SOB's that you speak of think they are too good to share w us. and it is still possible to be helpful and sharing even though arrogant. that's basically AW and TOF in a nutshell.

lets stop talking about it, take what Anthony wrote, into consideration and do it. lead by example, not in a "Never Follow" way, but in a do the right thing and keep the drama n beef at bay typo way. mmmmmkay... cyall, that is all.

This statement is soooooo true. I can think of a couple guys that know a TON about this platform. It is sad when you really stop and think about it, and i feel for them. Its a shame some of these guys can't get there acts together, and stop the drama bs, because this place could be a lot better. Aw has a wealth of knowledge, and if the drama wasn't here, alot of that knowledge could come this way.
