    DIY Door Install or Professional?(OHIO)

    hey guys,
just recently had someone hit and run my drivers side door. I was able to get ahold of a brand new door already painted and ready to go. However this is just the shell and i am trying to find someone who could me help install this(provide a write up), or is this a job for a professional?

The door has nothing in it just an empty shell, i have to transfer everything from my old door including reinstalling the window. I think i may be over my head on this one.

If anyone knows a good shop to install this in the North East Ohio area please let me know!

    Since you're asking, I wouldn't suggest it

Transferring all the internals should be hard at all, if you are confident in your DIY skills.

To ME....the hardest part will be aligning the door PERFECT.....bodywork takes ALOT of patience, something I dont have, lol

^^^ agreed. it is not easy to line up body parts. even though it seems the door should just fit chances are it will not line up.

oh noo,, I can guarantee it will not fit the first try, lol

If you wanted the same gap inbetween the fender and roof and rear door, it will take alot of realigning

not sure if this totally helps b/c it was a B5 a4, but i did this once on both front and back passenger doors after my car was hit. it was a pain to get everything aligned right, but not impossible. the real problem i had was that the door lock actuators went bad on both doors when i put the car back together, and since we have the vaccuum system, the power locks on the whole car stopped working, including on the trunk which was a big PITA. i don't know if it was some kind of bad coincidence or what, but I was really careful when i did everything and i'm usually a pretty good DIY guy, so I guess the point I'm making is that the job itself wasn't too bad but there's always the unexpected to worry about.

Give Cary a call over at Auto Accents in Parma Heights.

    440-888-8886

He does a lot of work on Audis and VWs. He may be able to help you out with the door. If he can't, he should know of someone in the area who can. Cary has the best rates in the area!
