Re: Fun cruising roads in new york?

While there are some pretty good roads in NY, I would recommend leaving the state if you want to have fun. CT has some pretty nice roads - the roads around Lime Rock are good. The reason I say this is, is in the case you get pulled over, you would only have to pay a fine, since points do not transfer from out of state. If you get pulled over in NY, you're going to get hit with a fine, points, and the driver assessment fee, which they now charge you every year if you have over a certain amount of points on your license.

i thought the tri state area was all linked with points and stuff... violation in CT means points in NY too.

in any event, bear mountain ftw.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you, Body kits and decals are how much of a mess you leave on the wall.

Taconic Parkway is cool when you dont get a speeding ticket for 71 in a 55. Bear mtn was awesome durning COI.

Also if you ever get up to northern NY around exit 8 or so off the Northway, head west to rt 50 north.. Nice roads, next to 0 cops, and fun twisties.

Don't laugh. The belt parkway from where it turns into the BQE right b4 the Verrazano to JFK is redonculous. YOu have a 2+ mile straight away with nowhere for cops to hide for the straight line bit and awesome turns at speed. 170+mph twisties and easy to disappear. THe cops alway use he same hide outs 2. There are spots where the road gets nice and tight at high speeds. Southern State is an awesome crack of dawn on a Sunday ride 2, with turns tight enough to drag a knee, or for my boys cage 2 catch and toss him off his bike. Shits official if you get it early enough b4 the Sunday drivers get on the road.

Ocean pkway in LI is one of the best stright aways. You can pin the needle evrytime. It has a gorgeous view and only gets bumpy wayout east towards the end (going east of course) The Taconic is a great high speed hway but there are lots of troopers as someof you know. But I found a part of route 22 near Armonk, off the Taconic that is 2 lanes of great straights and twisties! It goes around a lake for a few miles where I find it best.

Route 78 going from Keene to Lake Placid, in the summer when theres no road work you can fly up the mountain. 2 lanes going up for most of it with some nice banked turns
