You take it to a shop... and hope your not at fault.
They'll probably be able to pop out your quarter panel. Im not too sure about the damage on the inside though

45 views and only one comment....

Well, I'm at fault. No one else involved. I got in a fight with a guard rail one snowy night, and this is the result, less one broken tail light which I've already replaced.

Looking at the rear quarter panel, it appears to be huge, wrapping all the way to the front of the car above the doors.

Anyone know how much a replacement rear quarter panel costs?

Not too sure what you mean by "damage on the inside." What you see in these photos is pretty much all the damage, except for some scuffing to the bumper. But, that was already banged up so I'm not too concerned about that part.

    do 1 of two things.

    1. hammer it back and put the tail light back in.
    2. call insurance company

    Re: What to do about....

take it to a body shop....

    1500-2k $

    how did this happen?

    call your insurance co.

if you don't want to go through insurance....and you are strapped for cash....

the damage looks like you can pull/pop alot of that out...use a small mallet and beat it out...lol...the best you can...pick up a new tail light....and that will cove up alot of the uglyness....

after you get the tailoight sitting pretty again, then you can work on the dent and scrapes...looks like you can get the dent out from the backside...after you get it all relatively smothed out...then you can hit it with some light sandpaper (4-800 grit)
get some etching/filler sandable primer and apply a nice coat...sand it smoth with some 800 grit and then put a two or 3 coats of duplicolor(your paint spec)...then hit it with some 12-1400 grit wet/dry sandpaper and finally hit it with 2-3 coats of clear....

after that, all you need is a clay bar/glaze/polish/wax...should be lookin pretty good

    gl!

    Re: What to do about....

I took the new tail light out for the photos.

But, you're right, it doesn't look too bad with the tail light in.

I'm definitely not calling insurance on this, and I'm also strapped for cash (recently laid off). So it looks like I'll be banging the crap outta this thing with a mallet tomorrow.

DO NOT even think about hammering it out if you plan on calling your insurance company. Leave it be. I suggest you call your insurance compmany and find a shop to get you a quote so you atleast know what your looking at.

No harm done calling and and getting a quote, but once you try and hammer it out its all on you..
