    Looking for red bulbs

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone know where to get the VDO red bulb (WLED-x5 LED Wide Angle LED bulb) other than superbrightleds.com or ebay? The one on superbrightlights is perfect, but when I went to check out I did not feel 100% secure putting my credit info on that page for some odd reason. Guess I am just used to paypal or at least a safe advisory saying that the payment method is protected by such and such (ie verisecure).

But if you know of another website or can you recommend a store, that would be great? I already tried NAPA, Autozone and another store. They have some crappy bulbs. If the site or store also carries bulb 2825(map) and 6411(dome) in red that would be even better. Thanks!

Ok, you just persuaded me to order from them. The site just seemed kinda shady for some odd reason. But if you know of a site for the dome and map lights, please paste a link. Thanks!

    Re: Looking for red bulbs

ive spent about 60$ at superbright LEDs in the past week...and thus i cant report on them yet, lol.

i used to have a red LED in my boost gauge from 42DD...im hoping the superbright bulbs are just as good, as i have a shitload of them on the way.

    Re: Looking for red bulbs

I could be wrong, I just thought for the ones I am looking for were numbers 2825 and 6411. Got it from here. You wouldn't happen to know of another link that has the bulb sizes for an 01 would you?

Edit: NVMD, found a site. Use this link to double check. For an 01, I use 64111 and 6411.

Edit 2: Can you help me with something? Which ones do I get for the 6411 replacement. Here is chart Link. I do not know how to read it properly. Does that mean I get the 44x10mm?

ya i saw that too, its the sylvania parts list. i used the cross reference guide on the superbright website and couldnt find a direct swap. the bulbs i ordered seemed to be similiar dimensions and the appearnace was also very similiar...they were the only ones i was unsure of. ill be sure to post up the results when i get them in.

    Re: Looking for red bulbs

wait hold up, what do you need the festoon bulbs for? the 42mm is for the dome light, the 36mm are for the trunk and glove box.

the bayonet bulbs (x2) are for my front map lights

    Re: Looking for red bulbs

I want to change the dome and map lights to red. To make all bulbs in car minus the glove box and foot wells will be red (meaning trim on vent, boost gauge, symphony, ones on door, etc. but the speedo and tach cluster will still be white>>>01 model). Then later on maybe paint my calipers red also to complete theme. My car is brilliant/jet black.

Festoom is for the dome and map lights, correct?

Both my dome and map are 6411. Then with this chart it says that 4011 replaces the 6411 bulb (festoom). So, does that means I get the 40x11mm and it would be correct bulb?

*I assume we have different sizes due to year model, but can you tell me if I chose the correct bulb according to that chart in the link?

    Re: Looking for red bulbs

there is one festoon bulb in my dome (42mm) and 2 bayonnet bulbs for the driver/pass. reading lights.

festoon bulbs are long (42mm for the dome, 36mm for the trunk and glove box)
bayonet bulbs are small, like the ones in the turn signals (except much smaller for interior apps.)

    Re: Looking for red bulbs

Oh, ok. I get it. So I would need? 2 festoom (there are 2 for dome)? and 4 for the map lights (front and rear)? I did not know. One of the reasons I made this thread. Thanks!

EDit: Can you help me find the bayonett ones for my car? The cross referance number is 4011 from 6411? I found the dome light one.

    youre thinking too much, lol.

the list i posted above is every interior bulb for the B5, but like i said, thats all you need for the 97.

there is only one festoon bulb in my dome light, there are also 2 bayonet type bulbs there. the rears on my car are different, they are the wedge style bulbs(same as the boost gauge)

Be sure to. I did not even think about my vanity lights. If I ordered the correct ones, I will order those for the vanity lights as well as foot wells. Might as well complete the theme. Black and red w/white speedo and tach.

    Re: Looking for red bulbs

Ok. But now it is time for me to rant. I just got done making my vent gauge housing. I had the VDO for months, but was just too lazy when it came to cutting and filing. So, went to target and got a Dremel. Man does that thing work wonders. Anyways, now I seem to have lost the damn light housing for the back of the gauge. IN case I can't find it, do you know a place I can get just the back peice that holds the bulb?

EDit: Yeah, that thing is long gone. I will just buy a used one from ebay and keep the back light housing. Or they have just the back piece for like $13 after shipping. What a jip.

    Re: Looking for red bulbs

hmmm...how the hell did that happen, lol.

you would have to contact any authorized VDO retailer for specific parts, unless you can find a cheap one from a part car or ask around for a non functioning gauge that you can grab the housing off of.

    Re: Looking for red bulbs

I have 2 used VDO gauges on my watch list on ebay. One is at like 3.50 and the other at 5 dollars. Then they have just the back piece for like $13 after shipping. I will just maybe get the used one, keep the back piece, and give the gauge to someone whom wants it. They would have to pay for shipping though.
