    Re: Montreal meet??

Hey Roger. The first meet should be around mid/end of May. This year I think we're going to have it at the Julep on a Tuesday (same day as the VW meets). Or meet up at the KK and then take a drive to the Julep.

    What do you think?

    Re: Montreal meet??

ED wats up buddy!! i cant wait for you to hear my car with the DPs and milltek CB..

im up for anything...when we edge closer to the meet date, we'll get a feel of what ppl want to do and go for it..

but i think that the KK no longer exists there so there would be no point in going. we should confirm that.

either way let me know what the consensus is with the majority and lets roll.

    Re: Montreal meet??

    Hey guys!

Long time reader, first time poster (our '08 A4 Avant 2.0T S-Line is just going into production next week!!). So maybe I can make it out to another GTG later on this summer. I've never been to an enthusiast gathering... how is it? What's the vibe like?

Ed: I've seen your Avant around my neighbourhood a few times last year... where are you? Any plans to sell those 19" Chs? By the way, how does an A4 with coilovers & 19" rims fare on our FANTASTIC roads here in YUL? I'm debating to see if I just stick to the S-Line setup or go with maybe some STaSIS c/o's... what about winter driving? Do you need to crank your c/o's all the way up?

Anywho, I'm really stoked about finally joining the Audi family (moving from a Jetta Wagon 1.8T... I'll miss her!). I had my heart set on the new B8 Avant but after chasing Audi Canada for a confirmation that they won't offer it with a manual tranny, I just jumped on the chance to order one of the last B7s AND we got a 5000$ rebate... could be worse!

Looking forward to meeting you guys!

    Seb

Hello Seb, I'm located in the Plateau area but my wife takes it everwhere.
    Which area are you in?

With 19", you'll feel the road a lot more, every bump and so on but overall, it seems lighter, I can't really describe it. As for the C/O, I just leave it all year round, it's a PITA to adjust and I don't have the time to do so. I haven't really gotten stuck except for that one big snow storm that we had. That day was the worse for any lowered car, as matter as fact for any car that is.

Hope to see you in the future meets.

    Ed.

BTW: The CH are not for sale at the moment.

    Re: Montreal meet??

Ha! I thought they wouldn't be for sale!

I'm in Outremont. We're practically neighbours!

Yeah, that's the thing that's putting me off from going 19": our roads are just soooooo pathetic , I'm affraid I'd end up hating the car/setup because of harshness. Probably stick with 18"...

We're leasing for 36 months so I don't know if it's worth spending the $$$ for coilovers, brake upgrade, catback...

Since you're here, could I pick your brain a little? Ok!

    - Where do you have your work done? RMR?

    - Why Revo & not Neuspeed? How do you like it? How does your dealer like it?

    - RS4 sway... good mod?

    - Any probs with fuel cut? Did you do the APR fuel pump?

I don't want to annoy you with all my questions, but you put together a pretty tight Avant, so I figure you're a good person to ask. And you're local, so you know about our roads...

    Thanks for the help!

    Seb

    Re: Montreal meet??

Ahh, Outremont. I went to OHS way back in the 80's.

As Patate (Pat) mention, go with Revo. The Revo dealer, Rombotis Tuning (http://www.rombotistuning.com) is in the Outremont area as well (Durocher/Beaubien). I went with Revo because I got a good deal and they're nearby. Actually, the Audi dealer is ok with it.

There's two places that works on my car. One is Rombotis Tuning and the other is High Performance Autosports (http://www.hp-autosports.com) besides the wife works there .

The RS4 sway bar is an inexpensive mod which is worth the $$.

I do have issue with fuel cut and the Revo software did help a bit. I actually had the Autotech fuel pump kit until I found out that the production cars from 2005.5 to 2007 had a cam issue and decided to remove the fuel pump. Audi/VW corrected the cam issue on production cars starting from 2007.5, so your lucky.

You can read more about it here:
    http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3754451

Oh, did I mention that the 2.0T FSI also have a DV issue?

    Hope this helps...

    Re: Montreal meet??

Ok, well the RS4 sway bar will go in for sure, I'll see about the suspension. I was already planning the Forge DV and we'll see what happens with software/catback options. I think APR is about to come up with a BT kit for the B7 A4... Mike@APR was saying his A4 has been in the development bay for some weeks now and that they're about to announce something... I'm guessing an adaptation of the S3/30th anni. GTi kit.

What about brakes? I was planning brakes lines. Do we any bigger brakes on this platform?

Thanks again for the help guys!

    Re: Montreal meet??

I just upgraded the fronts to the S4 rotor. All you need is the S4 rotor and the caliper carrier. Oh, I did recently install some SS brake lines as well. But that's it, I'm done modding.

I don't know if I want to do a BT on a lease car unless you do plan on buying it out.
