Strut tower braces for B6 S4?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I notice a small bit of flex in the front end of my B6 S4 Avant when it's driven at the limit. It would probably serve the suspension mount points to be stiffened by way of a strut tower brace, but no one seems to make one for the car (not that I could find anyway).

Do these exist for the B6 platform?

    Sport Suspension & S4's (B6 & B7) already has a strut bar.

It's the black squareish piece of steel that runs right behind the secondary firewall. (or is it called primary since it;s the first one? the one between the engine and battery)

It looks nice but the way the bar mounts is the reason I wouldn't use that bar for anything but to make the eng bay look better. The only strut tower bars i'd use would be solid bars or if those aren't an option a bar that isn't hinged.

If someone designed a three point strut bar then it would be worth it. The lateral bars out there are junk in my opinion. To do this right, you need to triangulate the struts to the firewall to really tighten up your chassis.

Really......If you can really feel that I would start looking at doing solid suspension/subframe bushings etc. When I was younger I did a lot of SCCA Auto-X and HPD's and in both my C Stock prepared MK1 MR2 and my Ur-q I really could not "feel" any benefits of strut braces. I also believe that how Audi has designed both the B5 and B6 with 2 firewalls the strut towers are very well located. While I have not done a lot of Auto-X and track time in recent years I still enjoy my Sunday morning jaunts and I have never felt that the chassis was flexing.

    my $0.02

    Cheers,

I had a OMP strut tower brace on my B5 auto-xer and could def tell a difference on and off. But to me the B5/B6 are different beasts, I feel like any more stiff in the front on my B6 and it will just wash out. I still think my B5 was more nibble and used the strut tower brace very effectively. I think it all depends on the other aspects of your suspension, and set up.

I suggest a larger rear sway bar if you are dissatisfied with the handling.

+1 on the stiffer rear sway bar idea if you haven't already got one. It made a noticeable difference on my B7 S4 when pushed.

As stated above "sport" B7's have them.

If you want more rigidity, maybe call up the guys at Ultra Racing and see if THESE will work. The mounting points should be the same.

I still don't understand the OP's point...how can you "feel a bit of chassis flex at the limit"?

i made the mistake of buying this....do not buy it. it does bolt up, but it seriously conflicts with the coolant tank.
