Anyone else's 2.0T lose power @ 3k rpm when engine is cold?

This is my 3rd A4, but it's got a little behavioral quirk. Every morning (or whenever the engine is absolutely cold) the car will pull until 3k rpm and then suddenly cut power dramatically for a half second. Once I get past 3k rpm, power returns and the car will pull normally again. After a minute or so, once the car has had a chance to warm up a bit, the problem stops.

It's a 2007 and it's done it since the 1st day I brought it home. I mentioned it to the dealer, but they didn't seem to take it too seriously and they never fixed the issue.

shouldnt be revving it that high when its cold anyways, good way to fry your turbo and mess up the engine

I've had that happen to mine when I'm in first and its cold. Usually it happens only during the first few starts in first gear. I've always had cold starting problems (doesn't always start on first try) and the dealer has never been able to fix/troubleshoot. But I've also had the check engine light come on and the dealer tell me that no codes were stored. When I chipped my car there were 2 codes stored. Not sure the dealer really wants to fix the problem.

That's a little extreme, don't you think? I'm not exactly wringing the car out first thing in the morning. This happens during "normal" driving. I wouldn't exactly consider 3k rpm "high revving".

I've driven all 3 of my turbo A4s the same way and haven't fried a turbo or messed up an engine yet. I typically shift at 3500-4000 rpm during normal driving. If it were true that getting up to 3k rpm during normal acceleration when the car is cold will fry the turbo and mess up the engine, I'd be trading the car in on a 335i instead of posting this.

Thanks for that. That's the kind of input I'm looking for. I haven't had any cold start problems, but I'm thinking about finally chipping this car (my other 2 were chipped) and I'm concerned that this problem should be addressed before getting more aggressive software. Did the dealer say anything about what may be wrong?

Mine (2007) does the same thing from time to time when it's cold. It's never thrown a code, and it always goes away when it warms up, so I've stopped worrying about it.
