    Boost Problem

So I've always thought my car was a little slow, so I've been slowly upgrading to try to improve on that. I installed an AWE turbo gauge last weekend and at the beginning every seemed over. Vacuum was reading around 17-20, right where AWE says it should be. So I take it out on the road to test it out.

To get to the point, I 'm peaking at 10psi in about 3rd gear and the needle will not climb any higher. From what a buddy explained to me, the needle should drop down in vacuum and then shoot up and start registering boost, none of which my car does. It just slowly starts climbing out of vacuum into boost. As far as engine modifications, I have APR stage 1, carbonio intake, and APR DV, just basics.

Does this sound like an engine issue or a gauge issue? I installed the gauge exactly by the directions and the vacuum is reading right. I ordered all new vacuum hose, as well as Forge TIP, and Samco hose hit just incase its a leak.

Im originially a VR6 guy, so this whole stock turbo thing is tripping me out.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Re: Boost Problem

It would probably be wise to run a boost leak test.....

Check out http://www.a4mods.com/ for a write up on how to check for a leak and some other cool DIY's.

    Good luck!!!!

~To the above question: My guage reads 0 when the car is off, vac is 20-22 and boost has been holding 20-21 on GIAC +1.

    Re: Boost Problem

^heat soak won't make you loost boost. 10psi isn't high enough for a stage 1 car.

my money is on a bad DV. R1's are notorious. go pick up a 710n from the stealership and swap out your apr DV to see if it's bad. from there you can either leave the 710n in the car, try and get a new DV from apr, or get a baileys/forge/etc etc etc.
