How Do You Feel About 20s On A B7?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Audizine is typically a pretty "conservative" place... usually people pushing
the envelope is frowned upon. Reading the thread titled "Whos Rocking 20s", I did a little double take... 20s? On an A4? The purist side of me was wondering wtf I was doing... but the creative side of me quickly bitch-slapped the purist and I'm still excited about them...

Just thought it'd be an interesting discussion....

(Oh yeah, I actually am going to be running the badge)

and picked up a set of these new from MRR

do i hear a photochop coming???

I think that 20s are unique and if you roads are nice then more power to you. I have only seen a few where is looks awesome, but man does it look awesome. One example is 1sicka4's b6 and RESPECT's b7.

here are some unreal shots of 20s that i have used as wallpaper on my desktop...
    1sicka4's widebody b6...

    rsquattro's rs4...

    respect's b7

    another rs4, i know...

I'm down with 20's, but please don't rock that badge. Even as a joke.

All but one of the cars pictured is also widebody, and I think that happens to make a big difference. I don't know if it's the design of the wheels or what, but something doesn't look right to me on re5pect's car. All of the A4s that I have seen that I think pulled off 20s were either widebody or avants.

Not a B7, but I just put 20" CK's on and I'm liking them. Must be something about the CK where they really look good on an A4. Only problem is they make my BBK look small!

If I remember correctly he didn't have a widebody kit just ABT front chin, rear, and side skirts, he just had it slammed and I bet it rubbed but damn that car is a dream.

after having stock 18s on the s-line (sport) suspension i can only imagine that 20s (or even 19s) must ride like crap since my ride is already pretty bumpy. I think that 19s with great tires are the farthest that any DRIVER needs to go, and i think that most people here are DRIVERS, who mod their ride for driving, whereas if you go to the benz c-class forum you might find more people with dubs that mod their cars for SHOW.

20s on an A4 isn't that big of a deal. I think it fits better than 19s. That's why I got them.

I only took 4 quick pics the day I put them on last week. Here's the other 2.

I had to adjust the height as I was getting some nasty rubbing on the driver's side front fender lip while cornering.

As far as ride goes it is surprisingly good. Not a huge difference from my 18's. Tires are 245-30 BFG KDW. Very grippy but a little noisier than my Eagle F1's.

I think 20"s are excessive on B7's but thats my opinion. I've seen many that are super clean but I think its too showy. Different story if you had an RS4, S8 or R8. I dont even think i'd put 20''s on an S5 if i had one.

I agree that 20's on an A4 is not that big of a deal. It has been done many times before and will many times more. But the badge sucks in my opinion.

So even with the wheels on the blue rs4 the offset is still et29. I need new wheels for my rs4 since some asshole decided to ram the side of me. I had the stock wheels. Since the insurance paid me quite a bit I would like to spend a little more and get some 20s with a nice lip or as some call it deep dish. But I'm unsure of what offset I would need.

Must admit up front that I'm not a big fan, mainly because a big wheel with a little bit of rubber does not appeal to me cosmetically. Functionally, i understand the ride can be extremely harsh and noisy, and of course economy will suffer. I would also worry about pot holes and rough road beating the snot out of the tires and wheels (and suspension).
Alternatively, derleicaman's BBS's above look pretty good partly because he is not lowered such that the upper tire is hidden above the bottom of the wheel well and these BBS wheels are pretty good looking. Again, i know it's a personal preference thing but when lowered so much as to hide the tire it gives the impression the car is overloaded with chubbies.
    Good luck pulling it off.

Yes your right about 20 s on an rs4 is stupid but I go to a lot of car shows and this year I would like to roll classy. This is not my dd so it's mostly garaged and in the summer I usually put the stock wheels on or when I go to the track. This will be the third set of wheels for the car.

Classy? 20s are tacky, not classy IMO. Unless you are one of those goons on bags (which I personally think is stupid).

How Do You Feel About 20s On A B7?

I think you can pull them off on a RS4 or custom wide body setup, like most of these examples. Other than that, I think it's a little much.

20s are too big in my opinion, go with 19s. Also, more than half of those cars posted are RS4s which can pull off 20s for multiple reasons where as an A4 cant.

You guys are all crazy! Did you forget the B7/B6 A4 also comes in a avant.
And 20's look great on a avant? If there was away for me to get tires rated for my car in the 20" flavor i would of, but it seems that 245/35/19 are the largest diameter tire that support the cars weight without rubbing or too much tuck.

I forgot what tire size i needed for 20's, but it would be very similar to running 235/35/19 in terms of side wall thickness. That equals harder ride and bent rims that to DC and NYC streets.
