    APR is the funk

Holy crap!!! I just got my ride "chipped" by APR at my local dealer, and man is that an improvement!!! I have been waiting forever, but finally my local Audi dealer signed the paperwork, and started selling APR! I rode in a friend's 1.8T that had been chipped, and I didn't expect the difference to be that great, but I guess the 2.0T is just a better platform for ecu mod's... This has to be the greatest price/performance mod available. Now on to the DV swap...

Anyone know how many miles before the stock DV tends to give up?

    Cheers!!!

Quiet??? That's not what I want!!!! Did I read that they make an additional piece that can be fitted to make it loud? I don't necessarily want a blow off noise, but I love the sound of a turbo...

Yes they do .. .but I am all about Function ... Our cars are designed to have the air recirculated ... So the adapter to have a atmospheric sound will alter this .. I am not sure what effects that has on the engine.

ya, I want to keep the recirc and I don't want a blow off either. Perhaps if I had an Evo, but it's not right on our cars... maybe I should just get a bigger turbo? lol... jk

Anyway, Love the chip, I highly recomend it to anyone, even those who aren't looking to mod too much, it's what our cars should feel/act like from the manufacturer

    Cheers

    Congrats 4 the chip!!!

The DV malfunction will appear by the way you drive and not by the time lapsed. I'm sure that now you'll be pushing more and that will eventually cause your stock DV to fail.
For a peace of mind get the Forge DV. I did even before I get my second stock DV failure.

    Re: APR is the funk

get a hybrid valve... u get a little of the bov sound while still recirculating the air... they're a lil more expensive, but u have an audi now... gotta pay to play!!

2 weeks, goin from apr stage 1 to 1+, w/ supporting mods, closing in on 300 ft/lbs @ crank!! and i'm just b6

    Re: APR is the funk

I installed mine when the car had only 300 miles on the clock so I don't even know what an un-chipped A4 is like. I don't race - and if I wanted to I would get a lighter car - but I do love the punch for my daily drive. Also, my gas mileage didn't suffer a bit because of the chip; it only suffers if I'm heavy with my foot.

    Enjoy

Now that's good mileage! I get about 30 strictly on highway at around 75 mph, but my combined is always around 25. I bet that only around town I would be below 20.

    Re: APR is the funk

since i'm runnin an 03 w/ 5spd, i dont usually cruise on the highway over 65..usually between 60-65... just somethin about cruising over 3000 rpm bugs me... i had a 95 neon that, btw, ran 15.9@ 87 w/ just intake, exhaust, msd coil, solid mounts, coilovers, and a custom rotozipped hood scoop from ebay over my air filter that looked like hell and it ran 17.3 stock. trust me, i'm not bragging, but with all that crap done to it, i would drive back and forth from chicago where i went to college and scranton/wilkes barre, pa, and with the 5 spd in that, i could cruise @ 80mph @ 3000 rpm and still got 38mpg.. makes me feel like i need a 6th gear in my audi.. if i was able to go 80 @ 3000 rpm in the audi, i'd be pushin lil over 40 mpg!!!

    Re: APR is the funk

eh, if i had the money to do that, i'd just buy another first gen neon for the good gas mileage (cuz it would be cheaper than a swap) and i'd drive the audi like it should be driven...not like a pussy

Agreed... when it ran out (I had the 6 hour trial at first) I almost cried. Once you have the chip, you will understand. Going back to stock is not an option...
