    Coilovers?? Or Lowering Springs???

    Can someone please tell me the pro's and con's of each of these 2 options. I only use my car for summer driving, and I am really concerned about the feel of the ride. I was told that coilovers will contribute to a horrible ride, and lowering springs will somewhat preserve my stock riding feel?

    If anyone could shed some light on the goods and bads of each I would be very appreciative!

    I'm not sure where you got you info from, but I would disagree with that statement. First off, you need to consider the longevity/reliability issues of the two. Lowering springs will give your car a drop and a noticeably stiffer ride, but within 10k you will be very likely to blow your stock shocks/struts. Also keep in mind that you get zero adjustability with the springs. Coilovers are by far the more complete solution. They can be fully adjusted not just for ride height but ride comfort as well. Yes, coilovers are more expensive, but consider that if you go just springs you will most likely at some point have to swap them out and put in coilovers anyways, which means you pay twice for labor. If ride quality is an issue, then look into the Stasis Streetsports or Bilstein PSS9/PSS10. With coilovers, you can drop the ride for summer and simply lift back up during the winter.

    I have H&R Sport Springs and Bilstien Shocks coupled with H&R rear away and S4 front. My tires are KDW'S and i can do any on amp in Florida at 70+ MPH. If you need to spend more than that your just making up for something.

    I have the same set-up and I agree with the handling characteristics ,but I need more than that. This set-up one of the more popular because it matches better than most aftermarket spring and shock combos ,but it is not ideal. While I know the nature of Bilstein shocks and H&R springs are stiff it is still bouncy on uneven pavement. A coilover is better matched than almost any spring/ shock combo ,because they are manufactured to compliment each other in spring rate and damping. I've rode in a car fitted with H&R coilovers and while the ride was still stiff it felt more composed over the bumps. So it's not about compensating for the lack of something else it's just a better choice.

    Well, yeah technically it's a matter of opinion. You also don't need soundproofing material, but it sure makes things a lot more comfortable.

    the real questions are:
    what your budget? low = springs, high = coils
    are you tracking the car? no = springs, yes = coils
    do you like tinkering (adjustability?) get coils. i love this part since i try out a lot of wheels and i like the fact that i can adapt my suspension to my setup.

    the ride factor varies from brand to brand and also from person to person. i think my eibach coils are fine to me, but some think its rough.
