Fisher Price - My First CEL

Hey guys i just purchased a 2001.5 S4 6-speed with 82k, and day 2 im already officially joining the Audi family with my first, and probablly not last set of check engine codes.

    The codes are:

    P0455: EVAP something or other

    and

P1113: first passenger side o2 sensor

Im going to take it back to the stealership and get them to handle that business, but the problem im having is the car doesnt feel as fast as i had expected that it would. My mom has a A6 2.7t with 6-speed and i remember her car feeling alot faster than the S does.

Could one of the 2 engine codes be limiting boost? Sometimes it will feel as if it is boosting and i will be forced into the seat, and then other times it doesnt feel as fast.

    Any help would be appreciated

First thing I would do is get a boost gauge. Easy to install and dont have to be expensive. You wont regret it.

Could be a boost leak. Not sure if those codes will affect it, If your air to fuel mixture isnt right then that will affect performance.

Truth is sometimes it does feel faster well I should say more responsive then at other times. All depends on temp, humidity, elevation and the mood your S4 is in.

Have fun and welcome to the love hate relationship!!!!

Yeah if you fill your car up with it running I think it will throw a code. At least it did for me. Well I should say I put 1+1 together. I filled up with it running, then noticed the CEL on. Went home and scanned and said something about evap slow leak. Cleared it and it never seen that code since, plus I hanv't put gas in with it running since either so I figured that was the cause of the CEL.

    Just a thought.

Thanks for the input, im going to get that o2 replaced and have the dealership do a leak test on the EVAP system to see if its a problem with the gas cap or something else. Other than that i love the car.

i'll say that you didnt tighten your gas gap until it clicked and thats what caused that code.

Re: Fisher Price - My First CEL

So, time for a little up date, im planning on taking my car back to the dealership sometime this week to have them fix the EVAP leak and the o2 sensor.

As for the car running like S*it, it was finally time for a fill up, i gave her a good dose of premium and the car is running like a champ. Im pretty sure that the dealership filled it with some good ole 87 octane for me.

One problem down 2 to go. Still loving the S4.

P1113 is your passenger o2 sensor for sure. Can you hear air pressure coming from gaz tank when removing filler cap? If not, that's your problem.

Re: Fisher Price - My First CEL

I went out to my car and tried to listen for a release of pressure when I opened the gas tank and I didn't hear anything.

I also tried opening it when the car was stilling at idle and nothing. Does that mean my gas cap is bad?

I listened for leaks around the gas cap while the car was running and I couldn't hear anything.

So how noticleable is the escaping pressure when you unscrew the gas cap? Is this my EVAP leak problem?

You should usually hear a slight hissing when you loosen the gas cap. My guess is you didn't tighten it enough and thats what threw your CEL.
