Not a good day, "cricking" noise from somewhere

It has not been a good day up here in CT at all. I got off my class to go home. Thought that I will have a nice, relax evening but WRONGGG.... there is this "cricking/grinding" noise (if I can describe it any better) at low speed - 30mph - with constant gas pressure. It doesn't exist when start off from standing nor at over 30mph. It seems to come from the front driver side wheel which is where i got into a small accident last summer. But that's up sure because with the windows down, I can't hear a thing. Any suggestion guys? Turning doesn't make noise, just going straight at low speed with constant gas pressure that it does.

Am I able to see it if I lift the car up with the provided car jack? I was thinking about the front axle, however, doesn't it only make noise when you turn (more pressure on the axle) rather than going straight?

... I have to go to this place which is 100miles total back and for. today. the noise started yesterday (nothing at start off standing, a little at roughly 30mph if you try to remain at that speed in local road, nothing after 30mph). Do you think my car can take it without doing more damage to other area?

This sounds like the noise I've been hearing for quite some time now. The only difference is that my noise seems to be coming from behind the dash, it sounds like a faint ticking... like something is opening and then a second later closing (tick.....tick). I've tried rolling down the windows, but can't hear anything w/all the wind. I've had my face right next to the dash and its almost like it's coming out of the driver's side vent. Like the OP, I only hear the noise when I am accelerating. The second I take my foot off the gas pedal, the noise goes away. I'm not 100% sure but I think I've heard the noise above 30 mph, even at highway speeds but it is definitely most noticeable when driving between 5-30 mph, trying to maintain a constant speed while going up a hill or in city streets.
If anybody has a similar experience or can shed some light, please do.
