Hey guys, rear window won't go up or stay up any longer. I think it's the green clip that holds the cable.

anyone know of a place to get them online, or a part number. don't feel like driving to the dealer as my local one is out of business now.

here's a thread over at AW that has a picture.

I just did one of mine on my own and it wasnt hard, it is the regulator that you need, it is the green clip and cable all in one. It cost me $150 and 2 hours of my time. Dont follow that DIY from AW, that dumbass cut a section of his inner door out cause he was lazy and then glued the cable guide back into the regulator.

    Yes and no.

Yes, that guy is one hell of a moron.

No, you can indeed glue that metal slug back into the carrier. BUT, glue will not hold....JB Weld will though Just make sure after it is all dry you file it back down smooth so that it will screw flat and sqaure onto that black piece (you will kno what i am talking about when the time comes)

Or if you have the money, just buy a new regulator, lolo

got the clip out of the door this afternoon, and indeed it is broken.

I refuse to buy the whole wire track unit for this one part which is obviously the weak part of the system and meant to break away under too much load. The dealer must have them.

no part number on it at all . . .

this car and audi's part antics continue to plaque me. I go to the dealer, tell him what I need . . . he comes back with the whol regulator unit. no clips for sale individually . . . makes no sense to me at all. 130 for the whole unit, told them to keep it. gonna hit up a salvage yard this weekend and see if I can yank one there.

such a pain in the ass.

Yes, I just did this a week ago. I got the clip from someone parting out their car. It was white but identical piece. Follow the DIY on the rear door regulator. You have to take the door completely apart. Its, on a scale of 1-10 about a 4. If you take your time and follow the DIY you will be fine. A good array of tools is needed, especially torx bits. As you take the door apart, replacing the green clip is the easiest part.

There is a guy on ebay just selling the green clips.

For anyone opening up their interior door trim, a good tip is to buy a couple of those clips that hold the trim in. Most people will end up breaking a few of these when pulling the trim off.

With regards to the green clip, I can't believe what a crappy, brittle design it is and something that Audi doesn't warranty either.
