hello all, a couple of questions.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, I've been lurking around for a long time now. I've made the decision to now buy a 2.7t a6.
The ones I've found are between 50-60,000 miles. I've signed up for unlimited car fax to check that, what else should I be looking at?
Anything specific in this mileage range, any soon to come expensive maintenance? I was at first looking for a b5 s4 however the turbos scared me away, it appears the a6 doesn't suffer the issues quite so bad. Am I correct in thinking so?
I'm in Indy but most cars are coming up in Chicago, everyone I speak to seems to be eastern european, are all car dealers eastern euro up there?
Are the days of negotiating a price over? everyone seems to be pretty damn firm on there internet price.
Does anyone know of anyone selling an a6 s-line in or around indy?
    Cheers in advance guys.

You will need to get the 75K service done, which is about $1200-1400, and besides that just minor things, and yes i think the car will run longer than an S4, good luck.

when I bought my car in New Jersey I was able to haggle a bit from the internet price. cant see why u cant either. at 70-80K miles most will recommend a timing belt and water pump replacement. not sure the price but I assume it to be close to 1K+

usually a6s are not that beat up as S4s, they were in the hands of the older crowd, so that is a big plus :)

Also if you are patient and look everywhere you can still find Certified A6s at Audi dealers. I know what you mean about the Chicago dealers, there are a lot of dealerships owned by the local Polish folks mostly, and some are good. That's just a Chi-town thing. The other side of the coin is that I always see good deals at the Audi dealers in Chicago. I have purchased 3 cars on line through CPO programs. Two out of three briought the car to my door and one I picked up, and made it a weekend mini vaca... All three purchases have been great!
I used to live in Chicago and just last week I was looking at an All Road, but it was sold before I could pull the trigger.
cars.com and put a 500 mile radius for your search. You will find something for sure...
    Good luck,

Cheers guys. The CPOs are a little more than I want to spend. I'm looking in the 15-17k region. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be an s-line too, any info. on those??

Re: hello all, a couple of questions.

I just picked up an 04 s-line with 52,xxx miles for 15,700. I'm pretty happy with it. drove 3 hrs back from chicago to indy and it just swallows those miles. it's my first auto, so i've gotta get used to the power delivery but i'm loving it so far.

Re: hello all, a couple of questions.

Keep in mind too that typically the internet price is the lowest retail price a dealer will go, you may be able to negotiate some on a trade but otherwise no.

I have even tested it at a few dealers, I didn't mention the internet price to start and the lot price is anywhere from 1k-6k more depending on the car.

Remember not everyone is smart enough to search and price out a car first...... if so no dealer would ever make any money.
