Angry '05 with APR TIP HELP!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

I am new to the board and found my problem after doing some searching.

I found out that the 04-05 model doesn't work very well with the APR TIP.

My question is I bought the APR TIP from Ecodetuning.com and it does not work! What are your recommendations about what to do!?! Should I contact ecodetuing or APR? What TIP should I get instead? Or should I buy additional hoses, clamps, and T-fitting to rig the APR TIP?

    Please guys I need help!

Plus the fact I am pissed that this the APR TIP does not work like it says on their website and am out a car until I get a new TIP! Considering they say right on their website, "All APR Motorsport Hoses include everything you need for complete installation, including fittings and clamps".

Since the 05's have bi-xenons the neuspeed extreme fits like a tree into a pencil sharpener. You need a T fitting and elbow grease. It will fit but it's a bitch

Guess that is the only good thing about not having the Xenons.

Has anyone made the APR TIP work with different fittings? If so, I would like to hear what you did.

Like someone said earlier, you'll just need a T fitting to make up for the lack of an extra hole. The material of the APR hose is actually quite good if you can get it to fit!

Re: '05 with APR TIP HELP!

The main problem is one of the bigger hoses is really not long enough. It looks like I will have to go to the auto shop to buy a 90 degree fitting and some extra hose.
The T-fitting I got does not fit the hose, it is really loose. I might have to buy a step down fitting for that.

I just would rather return it for something that actually fits. Seeing the website says it includes all fasteners and equipement needed to install.

Does anyone have suggestions about what clamps to use for the smaller hoses? Or should I go buy some more OEM style.

Re: '05 with APR TIP HELP!

I bought a samco fitting at Waterfest that looks like an "F" and it remedied the vacuum hose issue. With the fitting behind the Bi-Xenons, I just grabbed the TIP and squeezed it at the part where it was hitting the head light. The TIP will hold it's shape and fit better behind the housing.

My other issue I had with this TIP is the N75 Bung is too long and the valve was popping out. I had to do alot of modifications with a dremel to allow it to sit better.

Re: '05 with APR TIP HELP!

Yeah... the APR advertising is disappointing, but they also cost almost half of others. Even with the extra hardware you'll have to purchase you're still spending less than you would with other TIP's. You can get the Neuspeed/Samco one for a direct fit, but again... they cost almost twice as much as the APR.

Re: '05 with APR TIP HELP!

I had the same APR TIP fitment issues on my '04 A4 as well. I posted a number of threads about it, you should have searched first!

I just went with the Forge instead and it fits very well. Some people have said they needed a little trimming done at the bottom of the pipe that connects to the mouth of the turbo, it's fairly long. Screw APR, no matter what they say it doesn't fit the '04-'05 A4 very well, if even at all. Mine kept slipping off every day or so until I finally replaced it.

Good Luck, Forge offers a great product for about the same price!

If you have an 02 bung/sensor in your TIP, your car has a serious problem

Re: '05 with APR TIP HELP!

For the OP, you could have searched and found out it was made for the earlier models, you could also search and find out it works perfectly fine on 04-05's with about 10 bucks worth of parts from the hardware store. No reason to freak out ...

I bought the Forge TIP that LampyB had recommended and with great results. It wasn't an easy install but in the end it was all good, no trimming and good to go

Re: '05 with APR TIP HELP!

    I've owned, R&R'd and run all 3! I had the APR...sold it.

Bought the Forge. It installed, and fit much better than the APR.

    Now i have the Neuspeed.

IMO, the Forge TIP was the best for the cash. However its only for the K03/K04.

Re: '05 with APR TIP HELP!

Just want to let you guys know. I contacted APR and sent them pictures or the problem.

They contact me back saying that it does not fit the way they want to on the 2005 A4. They are going to look into fixing the problem and refunded my money.

Now it looks to be between Forge and Neuspeed!?!

    Any thoughts?

    custom.

my tip ran me about 75 bucks
granted that's a 3" for a GTRS... but i'm sure you could make something similar.
STFA for custom TIP and a few threads should come up.

That's an easy choice...are you planning on going to a larger turbo or not? If not then the Forge and if SO then the Neuspeed is your choice
